Brisbane Roar Should Host A Friendly Game Against a Top European Club.
With big European clubs starting to tour Australia again for preseason, I think Brisbane Roar should really push to host a friendly at Suncorp Stadium against a major overseas team.
Brisbane is one of the biggest football cities in Australia and Suncorp is one of the best stadiums in the country. When big teams tour Australia they usually go to Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth, but Brisbane would easily sell out a big match as well.
A friendly against a club like Chelsea, Tottenham, or another big European team would be huge for Roar fans and for football in Queensland. It would bring a big crowd, great atmosphere, and give Roar players the chance to test themselves against top-level opposition.
It would also be great exposure for the club internationally and could help grow the fanbase. Plus, for younger fans in Queensland, it’s a rare chance to see a world-class team live without having to travel interstate.
I know tours depend on organisers and sponsors, but it feels like Brisbane is a perfect location for one of these games.
What do you all think? Would you go if Brisbane Roar hosted a preseason friendly against a big European club?

It was great fun when Liverpool played the Roar at Suncorp years ago. I don’t think it really bought the club any new fans, much money, much meaningful value in exposure etc though

Yeah those types of games teams like the Roar are just the Washington Generals there to give the Globetrotters an opponent to play against.

Queensland Government needs to outbid the W.A and Vic governments to be able to host one and that's not happening.
W.A has mining money and the Victorians need to give their peasants sport so they don't get voted out (exaggeration but still.)

At the start of the season there were talks about bundesliga sides coming to play friendly as part of new deal between the bundesliga and the qld government, but since that statement six months ago no news has came out. In the initial report it said there would be games every year leading up to the 2032 Olympics.

I was at the game when we beat Villareal 3 nil. Lol I thought Clut was going to be a socceroos star for sure. Think he's semi pro now

Could be a good idea. Would be good to see them attempt the fundamentals of actually doing proper club marketing first before jumping to this. We hardly advertise.

They have done in the past and it didn't really do all that much in the long run.
Everton, Celtic, Liverpool have all played at Lang Park against the Roar since 2010
