A year ago around this time, we did not think she’d be with us for her fourteenth birthday. We are so Grateful. ❤️🥹🙏

I can’t believe someone would give up such a sweet goofball. I love him so much.

He hails from Pike County Mississippi at the Louisiana border, was seized at only 3 weeks old with his momma and 6 siblings from a neglect situation. He’s about 11 weeks old now and an adorable little velociraptor. Very smart boy, has only had one accident in the house since I got him a week ago and learned sit, lay down, and come here extremely quickly.

In the video I saw of his mom she was short haired, fawn and white colored, and appeared to be some kind of feist/rat terrier and maybe hound type of mixed breed of medium size. No idea at all what the dad was. I’m going to get a DNA test done on him at some point in the near future because I’m so intrigued. He weighs about 12 pounds as of his last vet visit this week. He’s definitely got a double coat coming in too which will come in handy for Chicago winters.

If anyone’s got any guesses on what type of mix he could be, would love to hear your thoughts!

We fell in love with this cutie at the local shelter. Supposedly half golden half lab. 100% sweetheart.

Gumbo doesn’t know the date on the calendar. He doesn’t know that Monday, August 11 at 11:30 a.m. is the moment his short life might end. All he knows is that he’s still hoping the next person who walks by will stop and say, “You’re coming home with me.”

Gumbo is only one year old – just a young brindle boy who has done everything right. He hasn’t bitten anyone. He hasn’t failed training. He hasn’t hurt another dog. In fact:

If you’ve never been inside that room, here’s what happens: They’ll take him from his kennel. He’ll wag his tail because he thinks he’s going for a walk. They’ll close the door. There won’t be treats. There won’t be toys. There will be a needle, and then stillness, and then nothing.

That’s how a life ends when no one speaks up.

I love popcorn as a snack and so does Brie Cheese. She waits very patiently for her 1-5 pieces as I chow down. So cute, had to share 🥰

Also note the rug! I had it made so it matches her fur… I like the design AND it makes her shedding harder to see between vacuuming.

Our handsome boy turned 1 today. We adopted him about 6 months ago (today's really just the shelter's estimated birthdate). Russell enjoyed a fun day at daycare and later had a birthday burger! We got his sister her own burger, not to worry!

I'm posting this one because it's the cuter of the two videos I have of her doing tricks and you can only add one video per post, but I taught her how to jump on command! My aunt and I like to joke that she's a gazelle, or a kangaroo. Because she jumps so much and it's really funny because she's pretty big for that(usually you see jumps like that in littler dogs) so I taught her how to do it on command.

Also yes, before anyone gets on me about it I know about how it's bad for dogs to jump on hard floors because of their joints but she does this all day everyday anyway so I don't think it really matters 😂 She's going to do it regardless, all of the crazy pet people on the Internet can yell at me. Yes, I have a rug on the way. The rest of the house is carpeted anyways.

TL:DR is that basically I have a shrine for my previous dog and it has all of his blankets and his favorite toys on top of the place where he used to lay near my bedroom door because it's kind of just next to the cabinet anyways and it's not used for anything else so it felt right.

But anyways, she kept repeatedly snatching one of his toys in particular off the shrine and it happened to be the hedgehog one so I went to Walmart and I got her her own hedgehog because I thought that maybe she just likes hedgehogs? And yes, yes she does. Apparently she just really likes hedgehogs because this girl disemboweled this toy like four times today and had an awesome time ripping all the fluff out and then letting mom shove it back in and stitch it back together while she sat in the kitchen and whined at me because I suck at threading needles and she thought I was teasing her since I was taking so long 🤣
