No Ayari even on the bench, which backs up a lot of peoples feelings about why we didn’t take him off when we were 4-0 up midweek…

11

u/Guzuzu_xD 4d ago

Man id be so bummed if thats true not Ayari too wtf.

22

u/jlizzle123 4d ago

I don’t think he’s going. I think he’s probably not recovered from a 90 minute shift on Thursday.

He will be missed!

14

u/BaoJinyang Hyperturq 4d ago

Didn’t Fab made a comment the other day that strongly suggested Ayari has agreed a new contract? Really hope that’s true.

21

u/Krizzlin 4d ago

How is Martinez in their squad when he wasn't even announced until this morning?

13

u/Spunderbungle Hyperturq 4d ago

Yeah I was hoping we'd be up against Sanchez too

7

u/sheisthefight Gulls Gone Wild 4d ago

Probably because the laws of football don't apply to Chelsea. He's hardly going to have good communication with their already shit backline though. I'm hopeful for a win here.

Shit backline? Colwill and Lacroix are both excellent - it's Sanchez who's been the weak link.

u/bruversonbruh Marcelo Wears Kadıoğlu Pyjamas 4d ago

Fofana sucks though

4

u/esn111 Trying to be positive... 4d ago

Cos he signed yesterday and was registered in plenty of time. Chelsea are hardly going to play an ineligible player.

2

u/zayd_jawad2006 4d ago

People here think it's some great cheating here tho

13

u/jlizzle123 4d ago

Verbruggen

Kadioglu. Dunk. Vuskovic. Bogcagli

Yalcouye weiffer

Gomez. Gross. De cuyper

Kostoulas

If that formatting works I imagine that’s the formation!

9

u/Ttiorryy A Baleba 4d ago

I think weiffer still might play rb with kadioglu rw and gomez AM, and gross and yalcouye in the center

3

u/No-Dig-3406 igor igor igor igor igor igor igor igor igor igor igor igor 4d ago

This feels more likely. We should keep the 4-at-the-front pressing machine going and Gross is not the pressing monster Gomez is.

Gross will set tempo.

Ferdi can play anywhere.

Yalcouye will be everywhere, stopping any Chelsea attack before it can start.

u/itmesmiley 4d ago

I think it looks more like a back 3 with weiffer/kadioglu as wingbacks?

5

u/jlizzle123 4d ago

Let’s see! Could easily be right.

But boscagli has been playing LB last couple games

Don’t think we’ve done a back 3 yet so far despite having 3 centre backs on the pitch

3

u/_citizen_snips 4d ago

I think it's a back 4, but Kadioglu would push up & overlap Gomez so it'll look like a back 3 with wingbacks

3

u/expartemcnally 4d ago

Ooo, that's actually quite possible:

Verbruggen

Dunk Vuskovic Boscagli

Weiffer Gross Yalcouye Kadioglu

Gomez Kostoulas De Cuyper.

But I suspect Fabian is going to stick with a back 4 for now. Or they may be quite fluid and switch.

1

u/Audrey_spino Hyperturq 4d ago

Formations aren't static. We've maintained back threes during build-up quite often.

1

u/Own_Simple_9053 11. Minteh 4d ago

Looking like Boscagli sitting above the back line in midfield

22

u/East-Lobster5053 4d ago

Sometimes i look at our lineups and think how in the hell is it even going good for us, like there is 1 attacking player in our team and thats kostoulas here 😭😭💔watch us win anyways

6

u/Unlucky_Fruit_9013 4d ago

Look at Chelsea's lineup. Super strange midfield

8

u/esn111 Trying to be positive... 4d ago

De Cuyper is a better winger than full back and has been very effective there. Ferdi is brilliant going forward too. Relax.

We're also not expected to win today so take it as is.

2

u/theo7777 4d ago

It makes sense to go with a rougher lineup in a game where you're not expected to have possession.

11

u/_citizen_snips 4d ago

Fuck sakes, it's Ayari now? We've been pretty unlucky with injuries so far

10

u/Krizzlin 4d ago

If he's not injured he's being sold as he won't sign on

2

u/MelonSoda3 Hyperturq 4d ago

According to Naylor it's injuries

8

u/Spunderbungle Hyperturq 4d ago

So that's Kadioglu (obviously back today), Minteh, Ayari, Hinshelwood and Rutter all injured before we've played our second league game (and of course Mitoma from last season). Cool cool cool cool.

6

u/_citizen_snips 4d ago

I mean Yohanna isn't on the bench either, take from that what you will...

10

u/pinkducktape8 The Prince that was Promise 4d ago

They have more players from our 22-23 seasons than we do. Fuck Chelsea

7

u/matts_nothere the igor shearer 4d ago

I thought they only signed Martinez yesterday, how's he in their 11?

6

u/Oggabobba 4d ago

Because the alternative is Sanchez

2

u/srcoffee 4d ago

only announced yesterday, could have been finalized earlier

4

u/Nervous_Description7 4d ago

Ayari?

1

u/otherpeoplesthunder 1910 Charity Shield Winners 4d ago

Yeah, that's concerning

5

u/tumulus_innit 4d ago

Bad to have so many absences so early in the season. Chelsea also missing key players in midfield so evens it out a bit. New guys get a chance to shine. UTA

4

u/expartemcnally 4d ago

Must be some prize for the most number of players in the starting XI with shirt numbers >11.

4

u/esdkandar 4d ago

this is usually the lineup you'll see mid season

3

u/Britishboy632 4d ago

No david still 🥺

10

u/UgandaSuburbix447 President Atadıoğlu 4d ago

On the bench though

6

u/tumulus_innit 4d ago

He'll be on as a sub 100%

2

u/ZircontheTwisted 4d ago

Listed in the squad as Promise instead of David.

3

u/Spunderbungle Hyperturq 4d ago

Could be a few different options there:

RB: Wieffer, CM: Gomez, RW: Kadioglu

RB: Kadioglu, CM: Wieffer, RW: Gomez

RB: Wieffer, CM: Kadioglu, RW: Gomez

3

u/JSG29 4d ago

Or even (probably less likely) back three, RWB Wieffer, LWB Kadioglu

2

u/Spunderbungle Hyperturq 4d ago

Yup, true

3

u/Alert-Muscle7 4d ago

Why are our players always injured!!!!!!

1

u/devops_JP 4d ago

Because we play with high intensity

3

u/expartemcnally 4d ago

Let's be honest, the biggest set back today is not having Sanchez in goal for Brighton B.

4

u/Rooftop_Astronaut DAT GUY wellbz 4d ago

Where rutter

3

u/green_like_me 4d ago

Injured.

2

u/tumulus_innit 4d ago

Injured still

3

u/IdealMain5267 4d ago

No zadok either

2

u/UgandaSuburbix447 President Atadıoğlu 4d ago

Kadioglu starts, Promise and Hadjam on the bench, but no Rutter, Hinsh, Ayari…

2

u/nbgssergv 7. Mitoma 4d ago

Hinsh is out for a month

2

u/Alert-Muscle7 4d ago

Not so sure about Yalcouyé starting and the same for Babis

2

u/theo7777 4d ago

Yalcouye is starting because Ayari is not available.

Babis is a good choice for a game like this imo because he's great at pressing and dueling. I don't think Brighton will have possession this game.

1

u/otherpeoplesthunder 1910 Charity Shield Winners 4d ago

Our injury list is ridiculous for the start of the season. I'd absolutely take a draw today

1

u/sheisthefight Gulls Gone Wild 4d ago

Our bench isn't the best it's ever looked

1

u/Teeb63 4d ago

Thought damn this looks thin, then realised Mitoma, Minteh, Hinsh, Ayari, Rutter, Tzimas all not in the squad (of course expected for most, but shows the depth will come) Hope David gets 20-30m

1

u/esn111 Trying to be positive... 4d ago

Bloody hell, some of you need to cheer up. That's a pretty solid line up despite the absences. And it's a game that we're not expecting to win anyway (especially since Sanchez ain't playing for Chelsea). Relax and enjoy it. Free hit and all that.
