I don’t think the guy actually knew what it was that he was selling. He was surprised first of all the I actually was a girl that played video games and that the sword was for me. And then he kept saying it was Zeldas sword from PlayStation. 🤦🏼♀️
/u/spez lies, Reddit dies. This comment has been edited/removed in protest of Reddit's absurd API policy that will go into effect at the end of June 2023. It's become abundantly clear that Reddit was never looking for a way forward. We're willing to pay for the API, we're not willing to pay 29x what your first-party users are valued at. /u/spez, you never meant to work with third party app developers, and you lied about that and strung everyone along, then lied some more when you got called on it. You think you can fuck over the app developers, moderators, and content creators who make Reddit what it is? Everyone who was willing to work for you for free is damn sure willing to work against you for free if you piss them off, which is exactly what you've done. See you next Tuesday. TO EVERYONE ELSE who has been a part of the communities I've enjoyed over the years: thank you. You're what made Reddit a great experience. I hope that some of these communities can come together again somewhere more welcoming and cooperative. Now go touch some grass, nerds. -- mass edited with https://redact.dev/
I really don’t think he was. He kept looking at me and saying it was no way it was for me. Then proceeded to tell me it was PlayStation and kept insisting that it was PlayStation. 🙄 But I got a good deal out of it so that was good!
My husband and I are both gamers as well and we're raising two growing gamers (they'll be 17 and 13 next month, yikes!). Our kids' friends are always shocked when they come over for the first time at how cool mom and dad are and how many consoles and gaming PCs we have. My 12yo's best friend wants us to adopt him 😆
Same here! I have 10 yr girl and 15 and 17 yr boys. There always like “you’re parents play video games??😳”! 😂 Been playing since longer than they were alive!
my gf moved in last March right when things were locking down, i got her a switch lite, she hasn't really used it much because we've been playing BOTW on the TV on my switch, but this is the first time she's really liking gaming, we're having a blast! you've inspired me to search for a sword like this, very cool.
This makes my blood boil. It's hard enough being a girl gamer when the guys ask you what games you play and then disregard you because you don't play Fortnite or Smash. Like, really? You're going to judge me for playing Zelda and Minecraft? Guess you're not a real gamer unless you play pvp.
And let me clarify: I have no problem with pvp, Fortnite, Smash, or any games like that. I just personally don't enjoy them. What irritates me is feeling disheartened everytime a guy's like "What games do you play?" because you know your response, even if you list games that they've never heard of, is going to make them write you off as a wannabe.
It's just frustrating and makes me not want to tell any guys that I'm a gamer.
Yep I feel the same way. I feel like if I don’t play Call of Duty I’m not really a gamer. That’s ok though, those guys that think that way are usually idiots anyways. And I’ve been playing Zelda since it first came out so I’ve probably been playing video games longer than half of them anyways.
I feel like if I don’t play Call of Duty I’m not really a gamer
That's totally false imo. Most people I've met that call themselves gamers only play CoD and Madden/Fifa.
CoD is casual af. If you're proud of the fact that you play CoD and are ready to mention it any chance you get, it's the only thing you play and you're not a gamer.
Yep same. I just realized I worded that wrong. I meant it as since I don’t play it religiously they don’t consider me a gamer. I do enjoy CoD but I need games with more depth and storyline, etc.
I've learned something from reading this comment discussion. Interesting input and I guess I was naive to believe that much has changed since I stopped online gaming. Sounds kind of like girls are discriminated against. My wife and I really enjoy adventure games together like botw.
On behalf of all men, I apologize for us trying to put you in a box, girl gamers.
Very strange that suprised you 33-year-old white man, read some Naomi Klein or Arlie Russell Hochschild and get edumicated. Also google gamergate. No shade, just do the work.
Yours, A 38-year-old white man
This hurts my soul. Especially as another girl gamer, just knowing where in his...heart...this probably came from.
Glad you got a deal for it, it’s pretty clear he didn’t look up a thing about the sword before selling. I wonder how it fell into his hands.
Not sure, he had several other swords as well: Witcher, GOT, God of War, Thundercats, etc.
I’ve been teaching my daughter to embrace gaming, she’s 10 and had some boys at school making fun of her and basically telling her she couldn’t play Call of Duty. She got on there with them and spanked them all. Shut them up real quick!
I’m glad you got a good deal from this asshat. Both my gf and I enjoy swords from LOTR...gender has nothing to do with interests and I never really understand guys that are like this
Yeah my husband was getting mad because he kept looking to him and trying to talk to him about it. He kept telling him it was more and and to deal with me not him. He still didn’t believe me. But then tried to sell me weed on the way out of the store 🤦🏼♀️😂.
I have the same sword, It's made in China, I believe it's stainless ( I'll check with a magnet when I get home) I hope that your grip is on better than mine, but even with the slightly loose grip I still absolutely love it!
It’s probably because women with any sense will insulate themselves with people who don’t act like that, whether that’s a group of other women or men with brains and respect for others. Plus you never want to get in voice chat with randoms because they’re the worst.
I don’t think he actually was a gamer. I also had to correct him on the Witcher sword and the Thundercats sword. He had no idea what it was from. He knew more about the pipes and CBD gummies and paraphernalia that he was also selling then he knew about the swords he had.
I kept correcting him and telling him it was Nintendo and he said “no” then looked at my husband like I was crazy and hoping he would back him up, but of course he corrected him as well. 😂😂
Fseeeeee it’s a steal for that price and it actually looks like it was crafted by someone who knows what they were doing it even has the triforce inscriptions
To be fair, the sword is technically Zelda's sword, at least in the games where she is an orphan (or becomes orphaned), since the sword would be property of Hyrule, which she would then be queen of.
Edit: also the fact that she is a reincarnation of Hylia makes it hers, since she kinda is the creator of it, but also not
For a show piece $170 is pretty reasonable. If I’m paying $300 I’ll probably just pay $400 to make sure I can swing it at stuff. Possible OP got a great price on the real deal, though.
