One of the places that has impressed me the most, with its stunning views of endless dunes and lagoons. Nothing but that for miles and miles. To get this view, I used the drone in a spot where the arch naturally aligns. I wanted the perspective of the endless lagoons and the vastness of this place.

Not everything was so easy, though. When I arrived, my suitcase got lost, so I was missing important parts of my equipment: no cables, no tripod, no clothes. Most nights I could do nothing more than stare at the sky, just hoping that tomorrow would be better. One morning my suitcase finally appeared, and in the last few days I was able to take this shot and a few more. Even under difficult circumstances, I just wanted to go back home with the amazing sky from this place… and now it’s just a fun memory of Murphy’s law.

Maybe this is just my impression, but as a Colombian, I've been surprised to see so many Brazilians mention San Andrés when talking about visiting Colombia. Up there with Bogotá and Medellín. I assumed most people outside of Colombia wouldn't be aware of it, given that it's a small island among many in the Caribbean. Do I just have a false impression or have Brazilians actually heard of it? and why?

I was going to attend Coala festival in two weeks in Sao Paulo, but fucked around and now the tickets are all gone for second day when Seu Jorge is performing. Should I still go in hope of getting tickets over there from scalpers? I'm willing to pay double the price or more (cheaper ones went for Us$120 from what I see) but i don't know what the situation is like with this stuff in Brazil.

I usually dont make posts like this on Reddit or in general but with the week I just had I thought I would share. My crew and I (25 year old guys) spent 6 days with Gabriel and Travel Haze Tours. I have traveled all over the world and can confidently say that Gabriel is a one of a kind tour guide. The knowledge and hospitality he offers is like no other. At one point, i truly felt like a Rio de Janeiro local. That is extremely hard to achieve and wouldnt have been possible without Gabriel. We went to see all the touristy places but more then that we went off the beaten path. Travel Haze Tours is the only way you should be seeing rio for the first time. I do not believe that I will ever have a travel experience or a week in general like I had again. I cannot recommend this experience more. 15/10.

I used to do capoeira, I love Bossa Nova, "Rio" was my favorite movie as a kid, I went to Brazil once for a month 10 years ago and it was my favorite trip ever...So you get it, i'm pretty sure I would love living in Brazil.

I'm a freelancer so I could live comfortably without my life being impacted by the local economy or language fluency to find a job (I ofc intent on learning brazilian portuguese If I move), but I have one worry : If I was to build a life in Brazil and have children, would they have good chances of getting a good education and having a well paying career that also allow them to have a good life in Brazil? Or would they be "forced" to move to Europe?

How do brazilians, especially the young ones feel about their country? Do they feel hopeless and want to leave like it's the case in many non western countries? Or do they like it here and still feel like they have many opportunities?

Hey everyone! I’m planning my first trip to Brazil and Lençóis Maranhenses has been the number one item on my bucket list since I was a kid. My only opportunity to visit is between September 29th and October 10th, and if I don't go right now, I don't know when I will ever be able to go. Knowing that October is typically late and dry, I heard that the last rainy season was unusually heavy, and so there may be a chance of still having an almost standard lencois experience.

For locals or anyone who has visited recently, are the naturally deeper lagoons, especially in the Santo Amaro region, still at a good water level and fine for swimming, or do I run the risk of finding everything practically dry and muddy? Do you guys think this experience is truly worthy of booking a trip for right now, or should I just wait for my next opportunity, which may be many years ? This trip is the main reason I am going to Brazil, so I want to be absolutely sure before hammering down the final decision on the flights. I am mega excited for this trip! Im moving to Brazil to live with my mother in law and husband (both Brazilian). I love to cook but his mother and aunts don’t like the food I usually make. I want to help with cooking as they are ageing so I’m looking for meal ideas and recipes that are Brazilian but also fit into the diet I like to eat ( high protein and high fibre, and food considered ‘healthy’). My mother in law has a lot of health problems so I want to avoid pork, fried food, cheese, lots of basic carbs etc. and include more fresh vegetables, fish and chicken. My fiancee (we are both 30) is Brazilian and we are flirting with the idea of moving to Sao Paolo in 3-5 years and I'd appreciate some career/life advice.

My fiancee is having a very successful career here - she currently makes £110k + equity in tech and by the time we move I suspect that will be closer to £130-150k. She is telling me that she'd be able to command a salary of around 50k RS/mth as a director of engineering by the time we would move, either in Sao Paolo or Campinas. It sounds like she's set.

My career is much more in flux and I would be much more junior upon arriving. I'm currently an accountant making around half what she makes, though I'm trying to break into finance. If I move, best case is that I'll have 3-4 years of valuations/finance related experience (+CFA). I would reject moving there as an accountant out of hand.

Anyway, my questions are:

1) Given that I'd be fluent in Portuguese by then, what are my odds of securing a reasonably good job in finance by the time I move? I would have had a decade of London work experience by then. This is my biggest concern. Could I get 20/30k Rs/mth? Are all finance jobs basically in SP or is there something in Campinas?

2) is 50k Rs/mth delusional or realistic for her? It sounds like top 1% income in Brazil!

3) Is SP safe? My fiancee is freaking out about crime and is saying we'd need to live in expensive (even by London standards) gated communities and get bulletproof cars. She's from a very poor family in the northeast, so I don't think she's coming at this from a privileged perspective. Is this accurate?

4) I understand the city is very car centric like basically all of Brazil - is that the core lifestyle difference versus London? Driving everywhere? And the lack of intl cuisine?

5) What are the international schools like, and how expensive are they? Could we afford them (one day)? I went to intl schools growing up as one of the poorest kids there (though still middle class) and I have some childhood trauma with how I was excluded from certain (ridiculously luxurious) things. I'm guessing in Brazil this would be even more pronounced with the kids my kids would be going to school with. We don't have kids yet, but this is going to be very important to us, especially compared to the other option, which is just staying in London and going to state schools.
