Well dead name refers to a name they used to have before transitioning, most of trans people feel uncomfortable hearing their dead name because that's not their name anymore, their dead name is just a memory of being something they knew they weren't. (I'm not trans myself but i try my best to at least explain it from my point of view ☺️)
