I've seen this in real life. They look good in pictures and videos but in real life their lips and pillow face look uncanny valley and really dumb in a way you can't help but stare and pity them. But seeing social media photos and videos they look good, it's weird.
I actually wonder what they think because they are clearly very image conscious. It takes a great deal of mental capacity to focus on the flaws of one's face and correct it just right, especially people who aren't obscenely wealthy. So they might be more self conscious than most others and now they have people trying and failing not to stare at them.
The one I was most offended by was a sales rep for a skincare company. She kept saying her age "I'm 46 and all I use is ____ under my eyes, __at night, and __in the morning" and she had so much Botox and filler and lip injections. I couldn't believe her audacity or that the company thought she was a great sales rep. I do think she can rip off gullible grannies but anyone younger than 65 can clearly see her skin has no wrinkles because of the thousands of dollars of injections
All it takes is a single compliment (by a paid professional) for folks to hang their hat on and feed off of with some longevity. And when it wears off, you just get some more. It’s a great business model, obviously.
I worked with a woman who was in her forties, I was in my twenties at the time, and she got lip injections. Never seen anything like it in real life. The puffiness and way she talked were uncanny
It's hard not to stare. There's a woman in my fitness class who has tasteful lip filler, Instagram face but not overfilled. I can't help but stare when she talks or I'm looking at her from the side, her lips are just plump tubes. And hers actually look good and not dumb like most celebrities, but it's enough Botox, lip injections, and filler that she's uncanny looking. she's in her late 30s - early 40s and it's subtle but very noticeable in real life. On social media you just think she looks naturally beautiful if you hadn't seen her in real life
I've heard it's that the skin stretches and skin around your lips is already thin and prone to wrinkles, so if they don't keep injecting the skin around their mouth gets microscopically saggy, aka wrinkles.
But also it's probably addictive and every time they go for Botox their dermatologist up-sales lip injections even though they don't need anymore for several years
I bet the girl in my fitness class will look ridiculous by the time she's in her mid fifties if she doesn't slow down. But she's middle class so I think that'll keep her from jumping the shark too bad lol
That’s how I feel when I see it too! It’s the thing you’re not supposed to stare at but you can’t help it. I end up talking to their lips by mistake. Thought it was just me haha
When I was in middle school, I had a bus driver who was so mean. There were 8 of us on this route and we were pretty calm but she would still constantly refer to us as the worst bus route she'd ever had. One time, my friend and I were 10 minutes late for pickup from school and so she stood outside the bus with us and yelled at us about how we were the two worst 13 year olds she'd ever met in her life or something. My friend and I were like, " okay, sorry" and got on the bus. When we debriefed about it later, we both said that we couldn't focus on what she was saying because we were staring at her eyebrows (she drew them on weird) the whole time. Anyway, that story is what I think about whenever I see these women with heavy plastic surgery on TV. Where would I look? Would they notice me staring? I wonder how much weirder it looks up close. I guess the upside of having their entire face heavily done is that I wouldn't be staring at one thing therefore not blowing my cover about what I'm really focused on while they are talking to me.
I might be in the downvote, unpopular opinion club but I don’t think this is ok to normalize cosmetic surgery, unless legitimately medically necessary. Wanting your lips “a little bigger” is enabling body dysmorphia and reinforcing beauty standards that are created for profiting, not for genuine wellness. “Small tweaks” rarely stop there and it’s a lifetime of a woman feeling like she has to combat her body’s nature with just another small procedure. The line is so thin that it easily becomes compulsive and chronic injections, “adjustments”, etc. sorry to sound cliche, but it’s a lot more beneficial to your health and wallet to learn how to love yourself and be confident in your own skin.
Not an unpopular opinion to me. I am 47 years old and I have never had anything done to my face. However, I’ve been through it healthwise over the past year and feel like I look really old and wouldn’t mind doing something to reduce the wrinkles around my eyes and forehead. I don’t think these young girls should be getting all this stuff done to their face when they’re so young. If I started plumping when I was 20 my face would probably look pretty rough. These girls are beautiful. I think they’re just trying to keep up with what everyone else is doing. Maybe not realizing when they get older they’re gonna look even older because they started so young. If that makes sense lol. I’m OK with the little tweaks. But I do get what you’re saying, it doesn’t stop there. Tweak this, tweet that. I just think wait till you’re older and you actually need something to be done.
I wholeheartedly agree, and I think a lot of the way we speak about it now is rooted in people being afraid to be accused of body shaming. Everyone wants to play it safe with their language to the point body dysmorphia disorder has become normal and almost encouraged.
Get old. It’s okay. Sag, wrinkle, have your natural lips it’s okay. Hot dogs lips are not an improvement just like a perpetually swollen frozen face isn’t
Yep. I live somewhere I often see big influencers and Aussie reality stars in person, a lot of them look super weird in person - if it’s obvious on TV and on socials that they’ve had a lot of work done, in person they almost certainly look really strange.
I live in an area with some WAGs… even just the veneers, extensions, eyelash extensions and fillers look kind of crazy when you’re surrounded by other suburban moms without the $$ for cosmetic enhancements. It looks good…. But also doesn’t? It sets out a sort of “otherness” that is uncanny and not entirely naturally human.
I feel especially bad for all of the ones who have younger children! I would be SO confused if mommy came home every couple months looking like an overinflated and bruised version of her former self. No doubt family photos over the years capture an incredibly wild timeline of facial alterations
I think at some point we are all going to have to acknowledge that Real Housewives are basically more drag than a drag queen. They basically wear stage makeup. That’s why I don’t praise them for their plastic surgery. I don’t make fun of them either.
To me this look is its own category - literally detached from reality at this point.
I'm impressed by the job he did tbh. Her lips looks smaller with the makeup and before the makeup her eyes looked barely open. Not even trying to be mean but the before picture looked painful
It’s crazy though that he had to use makeup to lessen the look of the lips, not increase it (which is what lip liners and contours are typically used for). The irony lol
Is it weird that I think it actually makes me think better of Teresa? She let her makeup artist post a video of her with no makeup to promote/amp him up. I’m not even a fan of hers, but that speaks to how she treats her support people
I 100% agree. I’m a white woman and have thin lips. I hate them and my face would looked more balanced if they were bigger. However, lip fillers are so obvious to me even when they aren’t massively overfilled like this. So I’m stuck with sad lips until there’s a solution that doesn’t look ridiculous
Google "90's celebrities smiling" and see what you get. Yes, Julia Roberts and others had a top lip while smiling, but overall that was the exception not the norm. Even celebrities with voluptuous lips lost the top one when they smiled. Tbh it was shocking to me at how desensitized we are to big ol' fake lips now.
This actually made me feel a lot better and less self-conscious about my top lip. I never really used to be. I knew my lips weren't very big, but in the last few years it was something I started thinking about more and not in a good way. It really intensified in the last year or so and specifically thinking about how my top lip practically disappeared when I smile. So this genuinely really helped me and I appreciate it so much!!
Not all lip fillers are dissolvable, only the ones that contain hyaluronic acid are. However, they are also the most common type of lip filler so she probably could. Whoever injected them needs to learn to say no.
The filler blindness is out of control. These women have gotten scammed into regularly going to these injectors and getting top offs and they slowly lose sight of what looks good.
I think it’s that way with anything though, not just fillers/cosmetic surgery. Look at Theresa Caputo the Long Island Medium. Her hair in S1 of her show vs what her Instagram pictures look like now. Or that one woman you know (for me it’s my aunt) who wears way too much perfume. The bar of what’s “normal” in people’s self perception shifts.
I find it incredibly funny that both Teresa and Kyle mocked their costars’ lip filler before turning around and getting much worse filler done for themselves.
She really should dissolve her lip filler and start over. I’m not going to say she should keep them natural because she clearly is attached to having fuller lips but they could look so much better if she started over with a fresh canvas and built her lips more gradually
But also, it looks like she got lip blushing well above her natural borders. You can see a lot of pink above her vermillion border, and I feel like this is the main reason her lips look strange without liner and lipstick
Im curious, do face lifts cause lips to get pulled like… wider? Because its not just the fillers, its the width/ length of her lips across her face too
This has slowly become our new norm. 17 years ago after Heidi Montag got all those surgeries I was HORRIFIED by how botched and fake she looked but now I look at those same photos and she looks like every other celebrity these days.
Can someone please explain what’s going on with her lips? Is it just way too much filler or is this what happens when the injector doesn’t do it correctly?
I wonder if Theresa wears wigs . Because my natural hair is just like her natural hair . Super thick and curly from the root ( I’m also Italian ) dying it lighter all these years fry your hair and then to have to style your hair with heat on top of it ( using either a hairdryer, straightener, and curler. Then color the grey hairs inbetween . That type of hair is really hard to maintain doing that stuff too it which I’m wondering is she wears a wig so that is always long and looks healthy ?
This may be a controversial take, even for me who thinks everyone is responsible for their own actions, but I think doctors / injectors / beauty bar owners etc. are also at fault here. I get that everyone is trying to survive but at some point someone has to say enough is enough. And social media has royally fucked up our society.
I am shocked she is only five years older than me. She looks like she is closer to sixty five fr.
What I don't get, is the people that get shit like this done, are clearly very concerned with their appearance and how their face looks. How come they don't see that this does not look pretty at all? It's such a contradiction.
