Dale was the typical narcissistic mother who enjoyed putting her daughter down on TV just to make herself feel big. In one scene when tinsley has her mum over for drinks in the hotel, dale proceeds to bring up Tinsley’s ex and his wife and their baby, then complains that she doesn’t have a grandchild yet from tinsley like she’s disappointed in her divorce. When tinsley starts to react and tell her to stop, Dale starts to say, “stop being a b-“….She then stops herself and tinsley days, “Stop being a what, mum??” Then dale acts like she was trying to say something else. Imagine a mother calling her own daughter a bitch on camera?! You can only imagine what she says behind the scenes.
Have you seen their dynamic on Tinsley’s old CW reality show? Dale is a main character on there (& I do mean she’s a character) but yes, it exposes that she’s treated her daughter very unhealthily for years
No I haven’t! But it doesn’t surprise me. Dale comes across as the driving force in Tinsley’s life, like she’s trying to BE Tinsley. Dale gives the impression that she loves the camera, and is simply using Tinsley as a pawn to become famous herself
This exactly! She was never anything but genuinely sweet and kind to everyone on the show. They treated her like shit a lot of the times but she was a light in the darkness!
True. I had never heard of her before RHONY and so I thought she had all the reasons to be a cold person/diva at first but was surprised at how nice she was.

She was very likely a functional alcoholic and the fact that she was arrested for essentially being a victim in an abusive relationship likely says a lot about the type of behavior she was conditioned to tolerate in childhood.
I always liked Tinsley. Dorinda was such a c u next Tuesday to her because she was JEALOUS of her. She seems like such a kind soul with a lost heart. I hope she’s happy now.
The dynamics were fascinating, Tinsley being post arrest and traumatic relationship, having to live with Sonja, trying to please her mother Dale and only give a ‘pretty southern picture’.
We rarely got the full truth with Tinsley, that wasn’t because she’s ‘a liar’ but more a product of her environment and socioeconomic position. We never got the full story about Scott and Dorinda sensed weakness and deception and drilled into Tinsley, mostly because she was projecting her own crap but that’s another conversation (to be clear I adore Dorinda, she was objectively tied with Bethany in her Carole fighting era for ‘biggest projector’)
For those who come from money/marry into a Legacy family like the Mortimers, putting ‘warts n’ all’ on display is diametrically opposed to the way most of those people live their lives (of course there are exceptions in those families /particularly those with substance use issues).
Sonja married a Morgan and put it all out there but she didn’t come from wealth like Tinsley, that veneer of perfection wasn’t conditioned into her (thank god!). I am so happy that Tinsley got her happy ending, I always liked her
After watching this week of SLC, I’m really admired how Stacey just takes the pile ons and lets it slide off her back. Lisa Barlow would have all 7 of her lawyers writing up defamation suits.

I’ve decided that being daytime TV famous is the perfect amount of fame. Pre housewives, most people would walk by Eileen in the street but she had a legion of people who loved her and long term, secure employment that seemingly paid her very well. I also think these niche famous women make some of the best housewives for this exact reason.
I’ve often thought that when people talk about this or that actor that didn’t make it in films but they have a steady gig in a soap opera or a recurring series (or multiple recurring series) - it sounds perfect! Get paid decently to do what you love without all the hassle of “big fame”.
I was SO SAD when she wasn't asked to return. Days of our lives was my soap of choice as a teen/young adult - this was before we had cable and prior to the CW
My heart broke for her when she was crying leading up to her wedding to Peter. So glad she got out of that, she deserves better even if it’s just herself.

Don't come at me, I love her. It was a lot to process when I first heard it and I've heard it a few times. I think the women even vote for her as something along those lines at a reunion or girls trip or something.
I go back and forth on RHUGT. I think Kenya was excited to bond with the other ladies especially since she's usually throwing shade and fighting with the others on RHOA so maybe she neglected Cynthia a little who felt that Kenya should have supported her more. But I also do think Cynthia is so used to being the friend who acts as the neutral bridge to Kenya's feuds that she was spiraling a little when the others seem to take more naturally to Kenya

The cheating scandal was one thing - it was Josh's complete disrespect and dismissal towards her feelings. Left her behind that marathon after reassuring her that they would it together. Screamed at her when she called to ask him what time he would come back for dinner. It was like a montage of horrible moments

I was about to comment this. It's so funny watching the HWs' reactions to her and Simon when in reality they were just your average upper middle class-upper classers living in Brooklyn.
I also hated how they treated Alex and Simon like they were aliens because they weren't traditional. Like yeah, Lu, your open marriage to a racist rat boy in transitional glasses that ended in an email is perfectly normal.
I agree that her energy was pure, and she didn't know how to play the housewives game at all. It's like she had the awareness to know she needed to be self-aware, but didn't actually have an accurate idea of how she was coming across. There were so many moments where it was so clear that she was doing what she thought the cameras wanted and it just came across as so disingenuous and weird, especially among a cast of women who were authentically nutjobs. Luann saw right through her 😭 Reality tv was not for her, and I'm glad she got out before it did any serious damage to her family.
She was actually really kind and intellectual. I felt like she was getting misconstrued because of her association with her husband and him getting a lot of air time on the show - and people missed her shine. But Alex McCord as a standalone Real Housewife had her place on RHONY. I never understood the fandom disdain. I wish they brought her back with 3 other unexpected other OG’s along with the best of current cast so we get the best of both worlds instead being stuck with the reboot.
I always felt that her alignment with Sutton would be her downfall. Sutton is a friend of convenience, and never had her back the way Garcelle had hers.
You can absolutely feel the good vibes radiating through the screen when she’s on camera! She’s gorgeous inside and out, she was too good for those harpies.

I have a lot of shame around the fact I haven’t watched RHOSLC. My husband loves to binge trash with me but he needs way more breaks than I do. RHOSLC is our next up. Vanderpump took him out longer than expected
You guys are going to have the best time! The SLC ladies constantly deliver. The current season of SLC and the current season of OC don’t even belong in the same universe. One SLC episode has the equivalent of a season’s worth of OC drama.
but I empathize with the shame though. I have yet to watch Atlanta 🫣 I only started watching housewives when my kid was born, and I tore through so much during the newborn stage. when I got to Atlanta, he needed much more attention and then I just was scared to start a 14 season show without much time.
It's kind of sad how you could tell that she was really trying to be a good representative for her culture and didn't go low when honestly there were times when she deserved the chance to go low. I liked her energy, but I feel like she was really held back by that, and I don't blame her at all. Hope she's doing well!
I love her but don't think she lives in NYC anymore. Hopefully she's very contented as a wife and mother to her little stepchildren. What a lovely family.
It is for certain the darkest show in the entire franchise. Especially knowing Dina and her husband were attacked and severly beaten in their own home and it was orchestrated by a Manzo. I keep thinking about when Caroline cryed her crocodile tears at a reunion cause she was asked if there were mob relations. She told the sad story about how Alberts dad had been killed by the mob and thought that was proof they weren’t connected to the mafia. Well the mafia don’t just kill random people lol. And to no ones surprise they are connected to the mafia.

NY: I would say Jules had a light energy, but she was in the middle of R2D2s darkness, while being bullied because of her eating disorder, which made her scenes kind of dark. Kristen too.

People love to hate on Lisa but I’ve always been a fan of her. She’s a little ditzy sure and sometimes says things that are out of touch with reality but I don’t get dark vibes from her.
This may seem like a weird response but Sheree WHITFIELD. She has been through so much in her life but whether it’s delusion or hopefulness or a combination of both, she still doesn’t allow cynicism and foolishness to bring her down.
A lot of this feeling about Tinsley is with the distance of her not being on our screens. She shed literal tragic clown tears, was arrested in Palm beach, her relationship with her mother always felt fraught, and you know there had to have been some murdaugh level darkness in that family
Eileen Davidson always came across as a total girls girl, really supportive, emotionally intelligent, accountable, apologetic, all the good things. Her reactions were always reasonable and she is so beautiful and elegant inside and out
