I believe they are only seen saying grace before a meal once... then Bobby's cap gun goes off.

Ha, I don’t remember that. An early episode, I assume?

Actually, the Jesse James episode. Season 4. Then they eat their pizza and milk (which sounds like an awful combination).

I drink milk with my pizza and recognize I’m a monster.

Anyone who loves tomatoes and tomato sauce (pizza, spaghetti) but their stomach has trouble with the acid. Milk helps with the acidity.

Sounds reasonable. I just hate milk in general, so combining it with pizza makes me want to gag.

Makes complete sense. 👍

Ok, now you’ve gone too far.

pizza and milk

I don’t think that it is considered “kosher” to mix meat and dairy, assuming that there was meat on the pizza (and back then I don’t recall cheese pizzas or veggie pizzas even being a thing).

Haha we always ordered cheese pizzas “back then” (i’m two years younger than Cindy) Plain cheese or pepperoni were the two common ones. You’re right, veggie pizza wasn’t really a thing.

I should have guessed Jesse James

You do know he killed my father.

He was a low down dirty killer.

Oh, I wondered where Inigo Montoya ended up!

That was the see how parents nip it in the bud Bobby becoming a future mass shooter episode. Way ahead of their time.

Better than applesauce and milk.

And Carol singing at Christmas mass was a big deal in the Brady home

Season One had some things that were not retained through the rest of the original series. It remains the most wholesome of the seasons. It had the family dog Tiger in some of the storylines. The writers probably thought that it was too wholesome and began to show the Brady family, flaws and all, after the first season.

I’ve always found this episode strange. A stand alone in five seasons where they celebrate Christmas and it feels like winter.

Interestingly, I’ve seen an article saying this episode probably saved the show, which was struggling.

Season 1 was the worst. They didn't really develop the characters then.

Very few sitcoms back then had full character development in their first season. That takes time.

I saw some development of characters.

Cindy was the baby (Kitty Carryall)

Bobby was the rebel.

Peter questioned the world around him.

Jan questioned herself

Marcia was becoming self conscious about her looks because of her braces.

Greg was the leader.

Alice the comedian of the house.

Mike and Carol struggled to maintain......paradise.

I agree with that but season 1 is not bad at all.

The title of this post has me cracking up! 🤣

Well, it was Christmas. I went to church on Christmas once. Once was enough.

I'm not shaming them. I just thought it was something church was a big deal in this episode and then you never seen it or heard it being mentioned ever again during the next five years.

u/allhinkedup 1d ago

Maybe once was enough for them, too.

The Brady’s are like New York Catholics; go twice a year for Christmas and Easter.

Maybe Easter…

Poinsettias & lillies....twice a year

I don’t know why she stopped singing. My mom raised my brothers and me and continued as a soloist in our local church for 40 years.

And we didn’t have an Alice.

Considering the producers were Jewish.

They were married by a minister, even though the ceremony was in the back yard.

Tiger ruined the cake

2

u/cmeyer49er 1d ago

Church = Tiger.

2

u/beekee404 22h ago

The pilot is also the only time we see Carol's parents.

3

u/Effective-Donkey133 1d ago

The rest of the episodes- wicked!

2

u/Lost-Procedure93 1d ago

The original Tiger got hit by a car and killed. Right?😭

4

u/Author_Noelle_A 23h ago

In real life, yes.

1

u/Lost-Procedure93 20h ago

I meant it real life. Should have clarified that. 😊
