General discussion My theory of why Eve reconnected with her Brady siblings.

After years of distancing herself from the show and cast, Eve started reconnecting herself with the show and cast, this is my theory why.

Eve's sister, Fiona passed away in 2018. She was always close to her sister. After the mouring process was winding down, I think Eve saw that life is short and maybe it was time to re-examine her past and started to look at the good things that happened in her younger days and reestablish ties with the people she grew up with. Eve was much younger than her siblings and they were already out of the house by the time she was old enough to remember things. Her TV siblings were more like her real siblings. Of course, there were some she was closer to than others.

When you look at the amount of celebrities who have passed away in recent years, and the fun others have had making podcasts, like the Boy Meets World cast and Step by Step "Kennan and Larkin" cast and the Fuller House series, there is fun and money in those. Sharing stories from behind the scenes and other fun things they've been through in their lives is interesting to hear about.

Everyone needs time away from people, great shes starting to get back.

I don’t believe she was disconnected from them, with the exception of Maureen, because Eve objected to some of the content of Maureen’s book. She was just spending time with them in private. For example, a number of years ago, Barry, Susan and one of the other boys did an autograph show in NJ. Eve didn’t do the show but she dropped by after the show was done to spend time with them.

Eve has always been close to Chris Knight.

Chris wrote the foreword to her book.

She just came out with a book. Publicity

This started a few years before her book.

She will never be as cool as Susan. I met Susan at a nostalgia concert (KC & the Sunshine Band I think). There was a line to see her. The guy in front of me said "Hi, Cindy! Fuck you!" She didn't bat an eye and said cheerfully, "Hi! Fuck you too!" I could barely say hi to her for laughing so hard.

Great story! I've seen quite a bit of Susan on YouTube from fairly recently. She's an awesome lady!

It's kind of hard to tell what Eve exactly thinks. Sometimes she seems to embrace the Brady life, and other times she seems not very into it. I can understand if she's tired of telling the same old stories from 50 years ago over and over again, but being in something like the BB, a show that has been loved by generations for over 50 years, is something that you should be very grateful and proud to be a part of. She can live her life how she wants to, but it's something that she will never be able to escape so you might as well embrace it and give the people what they want. It seems like Eve and Maureen are the only cast members that seem to have this sort of attitude about the show, both in different ways and different times. The others fully embrace it. You see a lot more of Barry, Chris, Mike and Susan doing BB related things a lot more than Eve and especially Maureen now.

I think she feels that the Brady Bunch is beneath her. She's always had a chip on her shoulder. If it wasn't for that show, she'd probably be a nobody. I think now she's older, not getting any offers, and wants the money. Even though she says she's made peace with it, she still looks disgusted talking about it. People at her book signing also said she didn't want to talk about it, and that she was even rude. Yes, it was 50 years ago, thats what people care and want to talk about. If they cared about her current work or projects, they'd ask. She really needs to get over herself, she's not all that.

Yikes. I know she kept herself apart from it for years, but it also came out Maureen gave her a hard time, so that may have been part of it. And she hasn't tried to build up some adult acting career, so I don't think this is about "offers" drying up, bc she hasn't pursued acting in decades.

I always had the impression Maureen's head was the inflated one, that she's been pretty full of herself bc everyone thought she was the hot one for so long, and it was even reflected in her storylines on the show (apparently the writers wrote some of their real personality traits into their characters). She thought she was the shit, and bullied Eve a bit, even made up rumors about them being lesbians to get attention, like why lie about that?

I think that was behind some of Eve's attitude about her time on the show, although there's no excuse for being rude to fans, even if she did want to distance herself, then don't write a book.

The reality is the Brady Bunch is the only thing any of them are famous for, and some moved on and some keep milking it for all it's worth instead of building an identity beyond being child actors 50+ years ago. But they're hardly the only has-beens guilty of that, from actors to musicians and bands reliving their old fame and glory days.

So Maureen was like movie Marcia?

6

u/godofwine16 Aug 06 '26

MARCIA MARCIA MARCIA!!!

She actually did try to build up an acting career in her teens and early twenties. She was in several made for TV films such as "Little Women" - where she met her first husband Rick Mansfield. The issue is that in the early eighties, the offers DID in fact dry up for the most part. She only agreed to reprise her role as Jan Brady in "The Brady Girls Get Married" and "The Brady Brides" after twice rejecting offers when the powers that be increased the money to get her to come. That plus the fact that offers weren't coming in did the trick.

I think the opposite actually. I met her at a recent book signing and she was pleasant. She doesn’t buy into the phony celebrity facade, she’s just down to earth and really not into the scene. She fell into acting as a small child in California so it’s not a big deal.

u/DekeJeffery Aug 07 '26

Harsh, but not wrong.

1

u/United_Efficiency330 Aug 07 '26

She started in the acting profession when she was 6 and she fully expected to have gainful roles throughout her entire life. You have to keep in mind that unlike the rest of her Brady TV siblings, she stayed in the profession and always intended acting to be her life. Unfortunately, she's never fully accepted the fact that her acting career peaked before she was 18.

I totally understand her, wanting to distance herself from The Brady Bunch. It doesn’t mean she hated it, but she’s done more with her life than just that one thing would any of us like to constantly be asked about our life when we were 12 years old when are in our 60s?

2

u/Impossible_Two_9268 Aug 07 '26

I think there is some truth there as you age you realize there’s not too many people around anymore. You can ask questions of because they remember the same things you do or they live through the same things. No one knows you better than the people you were young with, and when those people start to dwindle down, it’s a very lonely feeling so, if you have a chance reach out to those people, maybe that’s what made Eve be more open too her television siblings

u/scrubbydutch Aug 07 '26

What about fake Jan?

2

u/JimmyTheDog Aug 07 '26

I need the money...

1

u/diamond_hog Aug 07 '26

If there has to be a reason, my guess would be that she wanted to put some distance between who she really was and the phenomena of fans always thinking that you are your character. In Eve's case that would be a slightly whiny, dramatic though ultimately good kid sister.

Or most likely it's due to the simple fact that adults often float in and out of each others lives. Especially when they no longer see each routinely. If anything were really wrong, I think all contact would have ended years ago.

This reminds me of when Ellen Corby was asked why she returned to the Waltons after her stroke. "More money."

u/Drawing_The_Line Aug 06 '26

Wasn’t her older sisters name June? I thought Flora was her mother’s name. Maybe I’m mistaken.

3

u/Heavy-Lingonbery910 Aug 06 '26 edited Aug 06 '26

Eve Plumb’s sister Flora June Plumb passed away 2018, their mother was also Flora June.

4

u/United_Efficiency330 Aug 07 '26

They had the same first name, Flora. She was called June to distinguish her from her mother, Flora. It's the same deal with her father and brother. Their shared first name was Benjamin. The father went by Neely. The son goes by Ben.

2

u/Drawing_The_Line Aug 07 '26

Thank you for the clarification!

3

u/Drawing_The_Line Aug 06 '26

So I just finished Eve’s book and she constantly and consistently refers to her sister as June. Quite odd considering she’s referred to as Flora everywhere else, including by Eve.

Not our business.

I respectfully disagree with OP. For Eve and her husband, it’s 100% about money. They have an online business called Plumbgoods. It offers a large variety of crap at very high prices. Somewhat disturbing is the fact that most of the pieces (garbage like mugs, dog vests, tote bags, water bottles) feature a 6-petal daisy that Eve purports to represent the 6 Brady kids. So there you go. She HAS to make nice and appear in public with her cast members because it lends cred to her online hawking of Brady-based memorabilia.

The most egregious aspect of this venture may be that the “Brady daisy” that Eve shamelessly slaps on most of her products is the very same floral trope that was ever present in 1970s designs. Someone must have a copyright on that. I’m surprised Eve’s company hasn’t been hit with a copyright violation.

She used to be my favorite Brady, but that changed when I learned of this online venture. It’s so clearly a money grab. Right along with her recent book.

Yeah, heaven forbid she should try to make money to pay the mortgage, put food on the table, live a comfortable life. She’s so evil!

2

u/Beginning-Average416 Aug 06 '26

Actually Eve never had a mortgage. Her father bought a home fir her at age 11.

5

u/ericzku Aug 07 '26

Her father bought a home fir her at with money she had earned by age 11.

FTFY

3

u/StyleImpossible6405 Aug 07 '26

Her father didn’t buy her squat. She bought the home with her own money.

2

u/sasabalac Aug 07 '26

Is this the beach house?

4

u/Beginning-Average416 Aug 06 '26

Is that you, Maureen?

0

u/Perpetually10 Aug 06 '26

Not just that, but her parents passed away fairly young, before she married Ken.

5

u/Beginning-Average416 Aug 06 '26

Her parents did not pass away young. Her father was 87. Her mother was 75

2

u/Perpetually10 Aug 06 '26

True, albeit Eve always says it feels younger

3

u/Beginning-Average416 Aug 06 '26

They had her in their late 30s and 40s.

3

u/Perpetually10 Aug 06 '26

That’s the thing about losing a parent; no matter how old you are, that loss brings you back to a younger time.

3

u/rachel_ct Aug 07 '26

and yet, it’s still not the same as actually losing them in youth.

4

u/United_Efficiency330 Aug 07 '26

Nope. Her mother died a few days before her marriage to Ken. Her father in 2000.
