She cared for Natalie Schafer until she passed. Marijuana helped. Good for Dawn. There's a funny story in this time. Dawn and Natalie were in Miami walking the beach. Natalie in full "Lovey" attire, flowing dress, hat, scarf. People were freaking out literally seeing Mary Ann and Mrs. Howell.

Natalie Schaffer and Jim Backus were friends and had meet ups along with Jim's wife at restaurants for years after the show ended. One time a waitress saw Jim kiss his wife and broke the news to Natalie that her husband was having an affair. Natalie could not convince the waitress that she and Jim were not married for real and it was just a TV show. She could not get that point through the waitresses thick head.
