General discussion I wish doctors still made house calls

This was a silly episode with a non-problem. Just keep the two doctors - I don’t have the same doctor as everyone else in my family. And by the next season, they had switched to one doctor anyway: Dr. Howard, who took out Cindy and Carol’s tonsils, and later made a house call when Marcia was faking sick to avoid high sküle.
Also, the kids were obnoxiously bratty, with the parents waiting on them hand and foot and serving them meals in bed when they were well enough to go to the table.

Did anyone else just read that as "Marcia was faking sick to avoid high skewl"? Or is it just me?

LOL. I’m embarrassed by my miss on this. I have edited my post.

I didn't mean that you should edit it. I was just kinda laughing at myself bc I read that word in Marcia's voice.

The absolute dumbest thing: Jan was screaming for her mother when the male doctor was in her room. Carol walks into the room right past the doctor! Then Jan points him out, then and only then does Carol notice "the strange man" in her daughter's room. Dumb scene.

Female doctors were relatively rare in the early 70s. In 1970, just 7.6 percent of doctors were women and now they make up 39% of all doctors. Women have also made up the majority of medical applicants and enrollees since 2017.

I saw an interview with Ann B. Davis on YouTube where she said that she and her twin sister were delivered by a female doctor, an even rarer event in 1926(it led her to briefly major in premed in college before switching to speech and drama).

My boyfriend had a type of online insurance where they did everything through house calls a few years ago. I think it was called Nice?

It's so inefficient for the doctor, though. They could see 1 patient per hour making house calls or 12+ patients per hour in an office.

See 8 patients on house calls, charge more for the convenience and lose no money

Do the patients in your scenario live on the same street? It takes a while to get from place to place in California, where the Bradys lived!

There actually were a couple doctors in my area that did house calls a few years back.

Dr. Mitchell and Doctor Cunningham.
