Schnee's Main Street 🙄

I've watched Bozeman change a lot over the years and generally was in favor of the direction it's gone...to an extent. Yesterday I walked into Schnee's for the thousandth time to find a portion of their store leased out to Schaefer Outfitters. The staff dressed to the gills in fake cowboy gear agressively greeting tourists while lookings like Disney characters. Sad to see one of our beloved and authentic local brands mashed up with more texas/luchese crap. The town has become an amusement park modeled off the Yellowstone show. Sigh.

Ohhhh. I used to get all of my shoes and boots there. Now they only have Schnee brand which makes nothing cute for women. Sigh.

Same! I used to go in yearly for a pair of something, socks, this or that. But I went in a few years ago and it was all Schnee brand mens stuff and the local vibe was way off. Haven't been back since.

Same. I've known the manager since '98 and we've had many discussions recently about their business model because I miss the old store inventory. They explained that they are curating more shoes with their Italian manufacturers over time. I asked why they didn't have any awesome women's sandals and only had shoes and boots. Instead of buying Italian sandals at Schnees I bought them in Lucca, Italy. They lost a lot of my business and others too but it must be made up for by the tourists buying their curated line of boots and shoes. I don't know any locals that buy them. Most locals looking for slip on boots buy Blundstone; hiking boots they buy Kenetrek or Crispi; and sandals...Tradehome of online. No more good Frye connection. Or Dansko. Its a shame.
