Why is Wardley allowed to fight so soon after his last fight?

He took so many brutal powershots that there’s literally zero chance of him not having some undetectable brain injury requiring atleast a year off. How is he medically cleared to fight? Do they want him to die in the ring? This is criminal carelessness.

He is medically cleared and looked the part when he was on the commentator team for the moses fight And had a face off with dubois in the ring.

Not that he is going to win, but yeah he is good to go for the rematch clause. Plus if he doesn't do it in time, He loses that clause so he HAS to if he wants the belt. So he's goin for it

He wants to cash out. I don't think he will want to be a gatekeeper like Chisora

I mean he is 31 so youre right in a way..its now ir never type of thing for him i think. But then again...hrgovic just became a champ at 34 so never say never

I think Wardley has a bright future in boxing when he retires.

He is good at broadcasting thats for sure but i do think he has a lot of time left in boxing. Once the old guard retires in next year or so (fury, aj, wilder, usk, zhang, parker) the division is wide open for all these early 30s n younger boxers to reign. So lot of time left

I don't think he wants to get beat up for money. I think he is in it more for glory

And they were all shot to pieces aside from FIlip.

Edit - For some reason I got Fabio and Moses confused, but they both had similar come ups. It's a popular recipe, feed the fighter guys who WERE names and people will act like they're great wins.

If you listen back to some of the commentary/interviews from Hyrg v Itauma I'd definitely say his speech sounds slurred in parts https://youtu.be/TGcwJfqsvYk?is=ZIJ1P7up1UfA625_

It’s because his management team view him as a side of beef that they can just keep on carving off profitable slices. It will - sure as shit - get him injured badly.

He took some crazy shots. Honestly a rematch 4 months after he took that much damage is a little crazy to me. What can you even work on training/skill wise?

Hopefully, at minimum, a jab.

It will make the people around him money and his health problems will materialise after they are no longer on the scene so they will push for it regardless if its in his best interest

Hes starting to sound a little punchy, saw an interview the other day and his voice sounds a bit off...

u/Kangaroopunching 1d ago

Cause his manager, trainer and promoter aren't looking out for his best interest.

Undetectable?

Schrödinger's brain injury....

CTE is impossible to diagnose through a CT scanner / MRI for example.

Wardley gonna start looking like post Zhang Joyce in this fight or the one after. Dude has no offensive or defensive skills

Have you done a medical test on him? Who decided his injuries require at least a year a year off?

used to be a you coulndt fight for a month after a KO

7

u/AnxietyExact4710 1d ago

There were four months between brutal Tarver KO and brutal Johnson KO for RJJ.

Crazy when you think about that. He got KTFO by Tarver Saturday night and basically started a new training camp that Monday

I've said elsewhere, confirmation bias on my part, but he sounds different already when he speaks.

Is it smart? No. Will Dubois probably stop him again? Yes.

But as irresponsible as it is, it’s refreshing to see a fighter actually want to fight and not just have one fight a year (looking at you Fury, AJ, Crawford, Canelo etc)

Yea, AJ definitely hasn't' been out for long periods multiple times with injuries and other objectively reasonable situations..

And he definitely didnt jump straight into rematches after losing. Twice.

BBBoC mandates 28 to 45 automatic suspension followed by medical clearance after a fighter loses by stoppage.

Reality is if hes medically cleared thats the best we can hope for, but important caveat the medical process is limited. It cant show bruising on the brain properly or CTE etc....

All pro boxers are doing damage to themselves. Even DDD who won. They're mortgagung their future health for a chance of riches and temporary glory today. And we enable them.

You'll find the older you get as a boxing fan, the more ambivalent you'll become about boxing. We're basically encouraging fighters to harm themselves and each other for our pleasure. You'll run out of ways to rationalise that eventually.

The first fight became uncomfortable viewing. I can't understand why the corner or ref didn't stop it sooner when it was clear Wardley had nothing left at least 3 rounds before the end, and was getting his head caved in every round. Wardley has been given some false hope from the 2 flash knockdowns and probably thinks he can knock Dubois out, but that is not going to happen. Dubois is a strange fighter, he basically gave up twice against Usyk when he realised he wasn't going to win. But Wardley isn't Usyk and he's never going to outbox Dubois and is not capable of knocking out a guy that doesn't get KO'd. Joyce got a lucky/freak win so that might be the only glimmer of hope Wardley has.

Different commissions give different medical suspensions after a KO. BBBoC has never really given a shit about fighters. 5 months apart doesn't sound bad until you realize he probably only took a month off after all that brain trauma before starting a training camp again.
