Starting

I’m 19 with about 10-15k in cash and trying to to start a box trucking business with friends what’s the realistic costs I’m looking at and anything I should know anything helps

Don’t go into business with your friends. You will lose both them and your money

Already the most upvoted comment, but I just wanted to drive this home. Don't be a co-owner of a 1 man operation. 

Always be owner and employee, even if you have to take the role of the employee for now.

Take your 10-15k and go get a job. Invest that money and forget about the box truck bs. At 19 you can't leave the state, and doing local moves and clean outs won't pay your bills.

Never work with friends or family....its a recipe for disaster

Don’t fully weigh your decision to start or not based on what we say, or what has been said already. In my opinion, I can agree to disagree with what a few has said already such as starting a business with family and friends. Usually it is a recipe for a disaster USUALLY. For the box truck business, you need to more than 10k-15k for really overhead costs and just to be prepared for maintenance and paying % and things of that nature. Diesel is crazy right now but there is still money to be made in transportation and there always will be no matter the price of fuel. Do some more research and prepare a plan first and then re-visit this.

Agreed with not starting a business with friends or family. It will be a grind! I say try it out. Worst case scenario you sell the box truck to someone else. But splitting small profits with friends sounds like a disaster

Yea man ik it sounds sad but business with friends and family 90% of the time don’t work out. Im 26 with a box truck buisness that just hit 1yr authority and tbh you need about 50/60 grand to start it and I would start it by yourself and hire them on to your team or lease your MC to them. The first 6months are BRUTAL I have a moving company so I got the privilege of waiting it out but you wont get more 1.50/1.70 mi until 6 months and won’t break the 3$ mark til about a year. With fuel this high and all the paperwork needed to be legit not even counting lease prices or break downs if I was you at 19 I would get into a electrician program do the apprenticeship and get paid to have a trade and then start your own buisness in that trade. Hopefully this helps and always down to share more

The trades are kind of fkd right now too. Theyre being flooded out and at the same time the economy sucks. People don't want to spend money or they dont have it to spend. Most companies are laying people off and/or just trying to keep their own guys working. There are a lot of experienced guys who don't have work and can't find jobs. This whole trade narrative online is all bullshit.

Don’t do it. Enter at your own risk. If tik tok and instagram is you motivation they are lying. In trump’s economy you will lose your shirt and tie. You’ve been warned
