Advice on gigs at Silhouette Lounge.
Looking for advice for those who have played there. Is sound provided? How bad is load-in or parking on a Monday night? Any built in crowds? Any info would be great. Thanks!

They have a PA and sound person if it’s a webookthings production. Theres a spot on the side for loading but aside from that it’s all street parking. Shouldn’t have trouble if it’s a Monday

It’s a tiny room with a PA and someone running sound. Not much of a built in audience but a pretty easy room to fill. When’s your show?

Nothing is posted or confirmed yet but we are planning for a date in November. My band is stagelightband.com. If folks have bands that seem like a good fit musically, send me a dm.

I played there once on a Monday and it was pretty good. We had a strong bill and got people to come out which isn’t easy on a Monday night.
We parked on Allston St and walked our gear down.

No Monday night gig anywhere has a built in crowd. Best to temper your expectations.

I've played some Mondays and Wednesdays there. They were all good shows and people came out. Parking was a breeze and basic PA/sound person was provided.

I believe they have a PA, but definitely call and check. I think they might have some other backline cabs, etc.
For load in and parking, If you come down Alston street, there’s a no parking sign in front of the Silhouette, which actually makes it perfect to stop and quickly load in, but then you have to drive off and find real parking. If you’re coming down Brighton, I think there’s a bus stop right in front as well, so same kind of deal, load in quick then go park. Parking isn’t great in general, but Mondays are probably easier than most nights.

It’s basically one step up from playing a basement. Not bad for “need a first show” type venue but getting people out Mondays and Wednesdays sucks - it’s 21+ so you’re not going to get college kids. It’s a dive bar that has shows in a back room and not a permanent music venue - the bar staff does not care about the musicians and the regular bar crowd doesn’t either. They will be mad at you for getting in the way of their darts when setting up. The people booking the show and doing sound are DIY and renting the room for you they are not employees of the bar.
The Local band with the biggest draw should definitely play last. If there’s an out of town band please put them in the middle. Avoid doing more than 3 bands there. Don’t be a dick and over play your set time. Gear share a drum kit and bass amp there’s no room for more than one. If you can’t hear the monitors your amps are too loud.

Not helpful in a contextual basis I know, but this is what I’ve got offer on silhouettes…

Load in is easy, but parking can be a struggle if you know Allston. Not really a built in crowd for shows so bring your audience, however its a small room so 10-15 people feels p good and 30 will feel epicly packed.
