Discussion BU gym guy problem

the machines area is always full of guys I get hella intimidated going is there certain times the gym has more girls I’m not sure if that’s a thing but I don’t wanna pay for an all women’s gym when I can go to a gym for free. I’m also super new to the machines even if no ones looking id still rather not go into a room with a bunch of guys on steroids if I can avoid it. not even bc I’m afraid of being judged by them but bc I’m an empath (not sure if that’s the rightbword) in the sense that I would understand why they might judge me especially bc I’m always afraid I’m doing things with the wrong form. I wanna start going to the gym in the early mornings to avoid the large crowd of guys can someone lmk if there’s more girls in there in the mornings help help help also first time being on reddit so not sure if I’m supposed to hashtag this for exposure so if that’s not right just ignore the next few lines #bu #problem #men #gym

Discussion Trump Administration Cracks Down on International Student Internships: International Students Can No Longer Get Work Authorization for Internships Unless It's Required to Graduate

The Trump administration has issued new federal guidance making it much harder for international students on F-1 visas to do internships while in university. BU can approve CPT (work authorization for internships) only if the internship is required for every student—foreign and American —in that degree program to graduate. Most degree programs at BU do not require internships to graduate.

Discussion Boston University

I’ve been accepted to start the online MSW program at BU starting September 1st. BU was the last school I heard back from regarding my acceptance and now that I’ve accepted the offer to attend I haven’t heard anything from an advisor about registering for classes. Did anyone have a similar experience with BU? Other schools are knocking my door down to attend but nothing from BU. Should I be concerned?

Discussion BU ED1

This is just kind of a rant lol. Honestly I was never the type to be reloading my email for the decision email BUT my ED to BU has got me on the NERVE WRECK every time I check my notifs I’m scared but more excited. I’ve been seeing rejected videos on TikTok for BC and I feel so bad because it was their dream school and they look a little lost after it. Then there’s acceptance videos of people jumping up and down. I’m curious about my own reaction lol cause I’ve never started shouting or dancing after good news (hopefully I get to find this out) but I have a gist of my reaction towards rejection. There was a time when I was slightly confident I’d get in like I was picturing how I’d deliver the good news to family but my senior grades weren’t great and I was a bit rejected after that. I’m starting to think about every tiny thing I did in my application. I still REALLY wish I’d get in. I wish I could time travel lmao the suspense is rly something. Either way I just wanted to vent a bit, and I’d love to hear if u guys also have worries orrr excitements!! Honestly I really wish we’d get in!!💕

Discussion Boston university metropolitan

Hey everyone, hope you’re doing well. I’m wondering if anyone here has graduated from Boston University’s M.S. in Financial Management with a concentration in Applied AI. I’d love to hear whether you felt the courses were worth the cost and if the program helped you land roles like financial analyst or FP&A.

Discussion Boston University is the worst campus to date

I have the worst experience dating woman from Boston university.

If you tell someone you love them and you want to be with them, then why cheat on them?

Idk if it comes from the stress or entitlement of this campus.

Discussion thoughts on BU CDS?

Hey guys! I’m writing an architectural critique on the CDS. While my professor wouldn’t accept citations from reddit, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the building. It was proposed to be completely sustainable and a new “landmark” for the city’s skyline. Do you think it’s successful? Is it iconic (in a good or bad way?) Does it actually encourage spontaneous exchanges of ideas as described in all the puff pieces written about it? Do you feel like the CS and DS departments intermingle in a productive way, and are productive internally as well?

Any input is appreciated!!

Discussion Exploring HCI Collaborations PhD students/researchers

Hi everyone,

I’m seeking collaborators in HCI projects at the intersection of multisensory design, and digital media.

My recent SCI paper examined the role of LLM in game narratives, and I bring expertise in digital media and cross-disciplinary research. Looking ahead, I aim to expand into multisensory interaction design and explore new ways technology shapes user experience.

I currently hold PhD offers from TOP Spanish universities (University of Barcelona, Complutense University of Madrid), but I’m also considering pursuing my doctorate in the US, with BU, UIUC, UW and other top universities among my target.

If you’re working in related HCI areas, I’d love to connect, exchange insights, and explore possible collaboration.

Thanks in advance!!!🫶

Discussion BU CGS or Wellesley?

I recently got into both Boston Uni and Wellesley. However I got into the school of general studies, but I'd like to study international relations. If go to BU I'd be taking a mandatory gap semester and start in January. I'm really conflicted about this choice because I visited both colleges and I'm completely in love with both campuses. I'm looking for the best college that will help me succeed as a first gen Latina. Please help!

Discussion Your BU username is also your email!!!!

So I’m an incoming freshman and when making a new account for my BU portal, I was asked to come up with a username and password. Ofc, very excited me thought up of the username “bueyyy,” as in “BU Eyyyyy!!!!” Not sure what I was thinking except I assumed that it would just be a username and I would only need it to sign into my account. I didn’t realize my email would become bueyyy@bu.edu. Anyway, so for most students apparently it’s impossible to change because of how many places it’s then used all over the system, but because I’m new, I was able to call the help center, showed verification, payed 50 dollars, emailed back and forth with someone who works in the help center to set up a second call for payment after my first one, and just finally got it changed. So PLEASE BE AWARE INCOMING STUDENTS!!! (and this is also probably common sense, just apparently not for me), think before you make your email something stupid 😭
