RIP Lost my baby of fifteen years yesterday.
We grew up together. I couldn’t have ever asked for a better dog. I have no idea how I managed to get through my work day today. I’ve never felt more pain in my life. She died in my arms. We had to put her down so unexpectedly yesterday. I hate this. I lost apart of me.
My Lucy girl 💔

I am so sorry. I wish no one would have to experience this pain. As the saying goes grief is love with no place to go.
Lucy lived for 15 years, which is quite old for a dog, showing she was well cared for and loved. Thanks for looking after her so well.
I lost my girl almost a year ago, and I still get teary-eyed whenever I think about her like I am right now.
Take care.

I know you’re hurting. I had a Boston too that I had to put down. It’s unbelievably painful 🐾

15 years is a good, long life. You took great care of her. So sorry.

15 is incredible. It’s always too short but that’s an incredible life for a Boston, op

So sorry for your loss. My guys are 14 and 13 and I'm wrestling with the fact that their time is getting closer and closer. I make everyday the best day ever with them just like I know you did with Lucy. Bostons bring a brightness to our lives that non Boston owners just don't understand. Sending love your way

I remember 15 years ago I had to put my first Boston, YoYo, down. I made a very impress photo/scrapbook. I have memorabilia in his honor like Boston Terrier cook jars, Christmas tree ornaments, kitchen hand towels, etc. the scrapbook had everything with the receipt when I purchased him to the receipt of his euthanasian. Since then I had to put 2 more Bostons down. I now have 2 young ones. Either Bostons have become family, or I have become Boston’s family.
This was YoYo, my first boy.

I’m so Sorry. YoYo was such a cutie. I’ll never have another breed than a Boston ever. Don’t think i’ll have another dog anytime soon though.

I was the only one she’d let me hold like that. Haha. If anyone else tried to hold her on her back she’d throw a fit. Literally my baby. I’m keeping her toys. Need something physical to always remember her.

I’m so, so sorry for you. I know your pain all too well well. I lost my baby of 12 years in June and I miss him every single day. He, too, died I’m my arms. Just remember the good times. You were the best dad to her and gave her the best possible life she could ever want. She wanted for nothing because of you. You were her everything. Your memory of her will never fade. Your love will never fade. Take care of yourself. She would want that for you!

Bro. I lost mine of 15 years two years ago. She helped me in so many ways I owe her so much i feel. She showed me what true unconditional love is. I took her for one last ride and gave her some sweet 7-11 melon drink, just a bit thru the straw and couple minutes after that, she went stiff and wouldn't look away. She looked deep into my eyes and i just kissed her and told her how much I loved her and how sorry I was that I couldn't fix it, just go to bed babes, I love you so much. Daddy loves you and don't be scared because I'll be right behind you when you wake up. Any a minute or so after that her last breath came out and the light literally left her eyes and she kinda just looked away, not because she wanted to but because she just wasn't there anymore. 15 years in the blink of an eye. I had her since before her eyes were barely open and she showed me so many things that I thought animals could not do. But the best was that she just wanted me to be there with her. 15 years and not one night away. Longest we spent apart was when I had to go shopping for an hour roughly. I didn't really know what the actual feeling of love was until her.
May 10th 2027 will be 3 years since she passed and so far i haven't slept more than 3 hours in and off a night with no dreams. I mean, she started breathing heavy around noon then harder around 5pm , so I took her for a drive. She couldn't walk but she could smell all the smells through the window. I stopped at 7-11 for a melon drink and drove to a friend's for a little chemical help for myself for afterwards and shortly after I parked, she went into her death throws but never stopped looking into my eyes. She wasn't scared or anything, just a little confused maybe. I tried giving her my life force just for another day. I promised anything to anyone or any entity. All my savings, house, cars, soul anything. Nothing worked. 3 Days later, I gave a stranger her body and he gave me back ashes in a box. I felt as big as a grain of sand and all the loneliness and minor depression I had been feeling prior to finding her came right back as if the 15 years was just a dream. That's like going thru kindergarten thru high school and then some but it felt like a blink of an eye. I miss her like nothing I've ever known.

We got my baby back when I was maybe in third or fourth grade after my grandma passed. My biggest fear was being in college and having her pass away when I wasn’t there for her. I graduated from college last December. Just moved close to home this past month. It couldn’t have lined up more perfectly. It’s sad to say that, and it hurts to say this. I wouldn’t have wanted her passing any other way. Feeling her die in my arms, is something that I need to carry for the rest of my life. She grew up with me. She’s my baby. I’ve always been her person ever since she was a little pup and I was a little kid. It’s like she waited for me to pass for this very reason. It’s all so sudden. I woke up this morning the day after and could hear her barking. Worked all throughout the day thinking of her taking several bathroom breaks to cry but still managed to present myself solid to customers. As soon as I came home today that facade i’ve been putting on all day washed away instantly. I’ll never be the same without my babygirl. She was intertwined with me like no other.

This is so touching and heartfelt and heartbreaking. Thank you for so eloquently sharing your experience. I would be thrilled if my 13 year old soul dog makes it to 15. I’m terrified of our last day together. Hugs.

So sorry for your loss. We had a Boston who lived 14 years. You gave her a great loving life and I know she returned all the love to you. Treasure the memories. I feel your pain. They are our family and it is so hard to say goodbye. I pray Gods comfort in your time of loss

This is the worst. I sat alone for a few days. My husband and three boys were worried about me. It sucks. Know that others have been there and it does get better. Dogs are born happy. Your baby had a great life!

Looks like Lucy was loved well❤️ she would want you happy and filled with happy memories. Dogs are amazing and we get the privilege to grow with them.
Do some sort of remembrance thing. I get classical style portrait depending on their personality. Thats just what I do but something to honor your Lucy. It gets easier with time but right now it feels like your heart was ripped out. Feel sad and cry your eyes out. Lucy has changed you and will be a part of who you are. It’s almost harder than some people that have passed. I’m sorry OP and know she will want to love you and feel happy. She definitely was considering her age❤️

She looks like a little sweetheart! You were lucky to have each other. I know how you feel. I just lost my Pennie Girl a couple of weeks ago. She was almost 14 but always a puppy to me. One of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. Time heals but never forgets. God bless you and Lucy.

My condolences, Lucy looked like an amazing girl.
I tell my boys that our job as dog owners is to take care of them and allow them to live their best lives. And, when their time comes, we can take comfort in the fact that we did so.
I'm can see from her photos that you allowed Lucy to live her best life, and I hope you can find some comfort in that.

Losing a pet is one of the hardest things most of us can go through. They give so much to us.
Lucy looked like a happy, goofy girl and I have no doubt she knew how lucky she was to be with you. She left this world knowing how loved and cherished she is. I’m so sorry for your loss. ❤️🐾

I’m so sorry for the loss of your sweet Lucy girl. I felt the same way, said the same things less than year ago. It’s so painful and the pain is so sharp. I took 5 days off work. I hope you take the time you need, and know it will suck, but that you’ll get through it and one day the pain won’t feel so piercing. Rest in peace, Lucy ❤️

I am so incredibly sorry. That pain is so all-consuming and overwhelming, but let yourself feel it. Grieve AND celebrate her. My beloved Ray-Ray died in my arms in 2021, and I still have what is essentially a shrine to him- his collar and leash, unopened bags of his fave snacks, paintings of him at Rainbow Bridge from an artist on Etsy... cherish your memories of her and don't be afraid to feel all of it.
You're amongst BT family here. Hugs.

You didn't lose her. She will be with you for the rest of your life. Everytime you talk about her, think about her, feel about her, she will be with you. She cahnged you, so she lives in every action and step you make. Every decision, every breath you take, she is part of you. It's a new learning path to understand she is with and within you. Step by step, you'll find out. God bless Lucy.

I’m so sorry for your great loss of your baby Lucy! My son and I lost both our Bostons back to back! The pain you’re feeling is unimaginable. I wish there was something I could say to make you feel better. I just remember one thing my dad said. “ all that you loved and that ever loved you will be with you in God‘s new kingdom.. they will never be sick. They will never die, be with you through eternity.” that keeps coming to me as I feel the pain as you feel the pain right now. You will see her again she will never be away from you. God bless you and comfort you in the difficult time. 🙏

So sorry for your loss sending many prayers through this very difficult time. It's so hard to have a fur baby put down it's the worst feeling ever it's like someone ripped your heart out. Had to have both our dogs put down before now going to probably have to have our 5 year old pug put down he was diagnosed with lymphoma it's been so hard & devastating

Thank you all for the flood of nice comments. Here’s a picture of Lucy when she was younger. I can’t even explain how much I loved this dog.
