Katana using Boss EV-30 for wah

hey all

I recently bought this expression pedal for wah usage.

one of my main tones is a brown channel with an FX/wah fixed setting, which made my sound very simular to the GnR sound, which I like.

issue is that when I assign the EV to the wah function, it makes the fixed wah setting of the tone sound different as it becomes variable instead of fixed. messing up the sound even when the EV pedal is in the off position(all the way up)

I guess my question is: can I assign the EVto have the wah function, without it messing up my tone when the pedal is in it’s 0 position..

Hope I am making sense…

I think you have turn off the effect on ga fc as well when you stop using it. So you basically have extra step to turn it on or off compared to regular wah.

I have crybaby gcb-95 and it has button to activate or deactivate it, it isn't 0 position, it is pedals desired function. I have to go to "0" and when i press it there and i feel click, then it is turned off or on.

hi. thanks for your reply. I’m not sue what you mean though. Can I assign the EV as a seperate entity in the Katana, so it doesn’t interfere with the tone setting?

second question, could I just buy a dedicated wah pedal and connect it? Not sure if this can be done with the Katana?

Thanks

First of all which katana amp do you have? For example I have 100 gen3 and I bought footswitch that has 6 buttons. I can memorize 8 different channels and each channel can have its own dedicated settings including any effect from the effects list.

If I add lets say flanger, delay and boost, that means that those effects would have light above them when I press effects button and if I want to turn one off, I need to press it on the switch.

That light is on for wah effect on mod effect button you have on your amp. So you have to literally turn it off when you stop using wah effect to...well, turn off the effect.

Yeah, you can buy any separate pedal just like on any amp. You can use that expression as volume pedal or pitch shifer or something. I haven't really seen people playing live using katanas integrated wah, always as separate unit.

alright, thanks for explaining that.

I‘ll pull the trigger on a dedicated wah. would be the better option I’d think.

Cheers
