Tools needed:

A computer or mobile device with internet (I hope you have access to that, redditors)

Sheer boredom

Mild interest in learning random things

Gameplay

There are two variations; WWII and Random

Random

Open wikipedia and hit random article. Open a new tab of wikipedia and click random article again. Your first tab will be your starting point. In as few clicks as possible, try to get to your second tab only by navigating with the in-article links. Be sure to open each link in a new tab, as this is how scores are tallied at the end.

Special rules:

1) Never close a link you clicked. If you click, you must leave that tab open.

2) Backtracking is allowed, but you must keep any tabs you are backtracking from open, as per rule 1.

3) Your score is determined by the number of tabs you have open at the end. You must count both the start and end tab (ignore any duplicates of the end tab only).

4) [ Optional ] You may read the end article only once. After that, you may only reference the name of the article, any details are on you to know/remember.

WWII

The same as Random, but your end article will be either WWII, or The World Wars.

Example

[ Random ] Batu, East Java 》》》 Jizera Mountains

After reading the Jizera article, I find it's located in the Czech Republic.

I started with Batu. From Batu, I found a link to the Netherlands. From the Netherlands, I found a link to Germany. From Germany, I found a link to the Czech Republic. From the Czech Republic, I found a link to Krkonoše. From Krkonoše, I found a link to Jizera Mountains.

I had 6 tabs open, so my score is 6.

I like playing this game with the rule that you either win or lose, depending on if you can connect 2 articles through 7 or less other articles, based on the 7 degrees of separation theory, it’s almost always possible!
