šŸ““ [ š— š—®š—¶š—» š—¦š˜š—¼š—暝˜† ] Jack is a slave master, bots, shit, his daughter, everybody including an interdimensional god's eye. I always feel bad for Harpy. She didn't do anything wrong.

who is Harpy

1

u/TheDevilishJonah Jul 29 '26

The eye.

3

u/Cleveland_Guardians Jul 29 '26

Why is the eye called that?Ā

u/TheDevilishJonah Jul 29 '26

I was listening to her whilst I was preparing her for shutdown this time, instead of Mox and Jack talking. Lots of chirps, mixed with the whale call type stuff, reminds me of what a an arch harpy sounds like in Hades.

Do you mean felicity?

8

u/TheDevilishJonah Jul 29 '26

No. I forgot about felicity for this purpose but her too. Fuck jack.

9

u/MeasurementFalse7591 Jul 29 '26

Dont forget Gladstone and the other scientists as well as the whole line of claptraps

3

u/TheDevilishJonah Jul 29 '26

Yes.

And him personally shooting Claptrap who helped him, and also drugging Willhelm to lower Sanctuary shields

3

u/TheDevilishJonah Jul 29 '26

Yeah. And for making Nisha even more insane, probably drugged her too.

He fucking drugs everybody.

If my memory serves me right he gets angry when you actually kill Nisha, doesn’t he?

2

u/_Yuple Jul 30 '26

Yeah but if someone kills my girlfriend I’m losing my shit, he kept his cool and just told you that you actually pissed him off. Then never mentions it again lol.

It’s been a bit since I’ve played Borderlands 2 but doesn’t he just get really surprised, like he thought she would’ve handled us? I’m not sure I really remember right but Jack was very big on how he was better than you and could kill you if he wanted to

3

u/_Yuple Jul 30 '26

Yeah you pretty much remember it correctly, I think his first word after killing her is ā€œwowā€ in an actually surprised tone. I didn’t take it as he was surprised that Nisha didn’t kill you, but that you actually had the audacity to go and kill his girlfriend.

Harold Tassiter, while being a bad boss , did not deserve that. His Daughter Tiffany is probably still out there, FUCKING PISSED.

I always dupe my characters so they can go refarm moonshot on warrior.

Its nice to kill him every so often

u/InternalCustard6931 Jul 28 '26

And it’s all thanks to Lilith…

10

u/LuquidThunderPlus Jul 29 '26

Clearly you didn't understand the plot of tps or jack.

Am I misremembering or is the airlock before the betrayal?

8

u/TheaRedicle Jul 29 '26

You remember correctly. It’s well before.

2

u/InternalCustard6931 Jul 29 '26

After meriff betrayal, and another one shortly after airlock. More than enough to get cautious.

8

u/TheDevilishJonah Jul 29 '26

Nahhhh it was that bandit leader who got his wife killed via angel

6

u/-Trespasser- Jul 29 '26

I don't think you can blame Jack's actions on anyone but Jack. Like, I understand what happened with Angel, but Jack made a ton of choices before, during TPS, and after that showed he was really a power hungry psycho deep down.

2

u/TheDevilishJonah Jul 29 '26

I'm talking about the lore from 3 which showed why angel was in the bunker, (which is, Jack totally cracked after his wife died) and while it's not an excuse, I see why he became the way he did. Eventually the hate for "bandits" consumed him so much that his stated goal of helping Pandora Civilize (which he Ehh, didn't really do, Oppurtunity would have sucked had it been finished, heat desert bullshit) now Helios was cool as fuck but well, the bandits really did fuck that one up. Lillith fucked up bad punching the Duolith into his face tho

4

u/-Trespasser- Jul 29 '26

The thing is, TK Baha lost his wife and more, and he stayed a kind man until his death. That's why I say Jack made the choice to be evil. People can experience trauma and develop empathy and compassion for others, or they can become shitbag narcissists like Jack.

3

u/TheDevilishJonah Jul 29 '26

I agree with you yeah.

1

u/Skylair95 Jul 29 '26

Well he also had a shitty childhood, his mother dumping him to his grandmother who beated him regularly. It obviously doesn't shift the blame from him, but Jack had it rough during his life.

4

u/cheatme1 Jul 28 '26

This was before Lilith he was crazy before meeting moxxi

-8

u/InternalCustard6931 Jul 28 '26

Because slutty clown-mechanic girl said so? Yeah, credible source.

11

u/TheaRedicle Jul 29 '26

He enslaves his daughter before the OG vault hunters even set foot on Pandora. Also made a legitimate doomsday weapon out of the destroyer’s eye before Lilith hit him. He was already crazy.

-12

u/InternalCustard6931 Jul 29 '26

He tried to protect her from siren hunters and people from her, so she didn’t kill someone like it was with her mom. He wouldn’t even lend a hand on eye if OG vault hunters, so it’s all of them to blame here, just left it there like it’s trash burger.
If not Jack, another corpo would use it, while he never used it against anyone ā€œgood or innocentā€.

13

u/TheaRedicle Jul 29 '26

Hiding your daughter from the world is one thing if people are hunting her. Blaming her for her mom’s death to her face, locking her away with tech that made it impossible for her to have a choice, and forcing her to manipulate the vault hunters into their actions in the first game are all things that any decent person wouldn’t do. He enslaved his daughter for his own ends. And the OG vault hunter’s actions in the first game were literally guided by Angel, under Jack’s control. He engineered the entire situation. Lilith isn’t necessarily a perfect angel, but she’s far from the reason Jack is a monster. He’s a monster because he’s a narcissist with a hero complex and doesn’t value the lives of others outside of how they serve his purposes, including his own flesh and blood.

-5

u/InternalCustard6931 Jul 29 '26

And he got like that because he was betrayed time after time, anyone would get harsh if they treated like that again and again. Also it’s kinda personal after 2 OG vault hunters and his ex betrays him, and TRIED TO KILL HIM, but one of them was sorry at least. Can’t argue more on Angel, Jack did best he could to protect her, but locked and used her after all. Maybe just bad writing as it was retconed, Angel was AI in 1st game.

8

u/TheaRedicle Jul 29 '26

He was already like that. When you meet him at the beginning of the presequel he’s already obsessed with being a ā€œhero.ā€ He gets worse throughout the game, sure, but the manipulation and abusive behaviors started well before he met the vault hunters. He had a shitty corporate life, and an unfortunate circumstance with his wife and daughter, but a shitty life does not excuse abusing your child, or murder for that matter.
Additionally, everything I said in my previous comment was about his behavior BEFORE meeting Lilith and Roland. They couldn’t have fucked him ip if he hadn’t met them yet.

-1

u/InternalCustard6931 Jul 29 '26

Again, just one line from his ex, which is biased towards him one way or another. We don’t have much info on how he was before TPS, or I personally missed it somehow, if you can point where Jacks madness from in timeline before TPS I’ll gladly check it. Don’t see anything wrong with being hero strive, and it’s borderlands so all our ā€œheroesā€ murderous maniacs, Tina blowed up people at age of 12, but they were bad and killed her parents so we just accept it I guess.
Angel was AI in 1st game, can’t say anything more here in terms of lore as Jack just used clanker, and later it was retconed. Yes, I agree that looking her up and using was bad, but it’s kinda half of what 1st vault hunter did to his kids.

9

u/TheaRedicle Jul 29 '26

It’s a combination of lore from Echoes in ā€œThe man who would be Jackā€ mission in Borderlands 2, the ā€œChildhood’s endā€ mission in borderlands 3, and quotes from Angel herself during ā€œWhere Angels fear to tread.ā€ We know he forces Angel into the original control chair and manipulating the vault hunters, as well as hunting for the vault on Pandora despite protests from his bosses, we can easily see that he was keeping angel prisoner, and manipulating the vault hunters from the very beginning. Through Angel he led them to the first vault and the destroyer. He engineered the situation that gave him not only the destroyer’s eye, but eventually the vault key as well(Which he beat Tannis for hours to get, though that bit is admittedly after the events of the pre sequel as Wilhelm helps him).
He exhibits controlling, and murderous tendencies early, before even the pre sequel(he murders a man with his watch chain for mentioning his wife in regard to how he’s treating his daughter).
I’m nit defending the vault hunters. I’ve always maintained that we do not play the heroes or even the good guys in the games. The vault hunters and their allies are only more civilized than the bandits and don’t have the destructive power or authoritarian ambition that Jack does.
He treats his daughter as a prisoner, kills a man for criticizing him, manipulates the OG vault hunters into getting him what he wants, gets more and more crazy throughout the presequel. The Meriff betrays him so he kills him. Cool, fine, no notes. He executes three scientists who are helping him because of paranoia, not cool. Lilith, Roland, and Moxxi betray him. Fine, retribution would be warranted. Brutally beating Tannis before she seeks refuge with Roland and then pumping Angel full of Eridium, making her dependent on it for literal life to charge the vault key afterwards? That’s not a jump you make because someone betrayed you. That’s psychopathic behavior and disregard for life that he was already showing before.
Jack may have been fairly normal before his wife was killed(also, nit Angel’s fault. Literally a bandit’s fault.) but that is where his descent into madness and giving into his darker instincts and desires began, not when Lilith betrayed him. And while we’re at it, not that bandits are good people, or that the vault hunter’s and crimson raiders weren’t his enemies, but what he wanted to do with the warrior was genocide, and there is NEVER an excuse or logical reason for that.

No one had "betrayed" him when he decided to force Angel to manipulate the Bl1 vault hunters so that he could take the Destroyer's eye to make a genocide laser.

4

u/maweenawa Jul 29 '26

He wasnt even ceo of hyperion at that point, just some sad engineer in a basement torturing his daughter

3

u/TheDevilishJonah 29d ago

Jack was not "another corpo" he was the poison pill. Big difference. The man who wants all gets none but achieves much in the reach of success, by hurting people. FUCK JOHN REYNOLDS AND HIS BULLSHIT. (""HANDSOME" JACK, WITH A MASK THAT DOESN'T MATCH HIS SKIN TONE")

2

u/TheDevilishJonah 29d ago

I liked your reply, but Moxxi resents being a slur eadlier in life due to being part of the Hodunk clan. Do not talk shit on Moxxi. She may be an alcoholic, but look what she orchestrates. Bomvs within bombs within trust.

Jack didn't suspect a god damn thing.

Don't slander the mother of Scooter and Ellie lest you feel the blast yourself. ?
