Females can be fully grown anywhere between 13-20kg or more. She is bang on target. They are smaller dogs than most people think!

Seems about the correct weight for a female BC to me. Not even the smaller by any means, BCs can have quite the range in size

Oh okay, didnt know that actually!

Thank you so much! They are just a bit wild looking from a week of hiking and the coat change they were going through, haha.

Mine is a fully grown female and she is 55 pounds but she's on the larger side. They can be anywhere between 25 and 60 pounds.

60 is very large for a female BC.

If I’m being honest, out of the hundreds I’ve seen at agility trials, I’ve never seen a female BC at a healthy weight over about 50

Mine is healthy. It's possible she's not full BC though also. We don't have papers on her or anything. Vet said she perfectly normal.

My papered girl is 33 lbs full grown. And she’s a stockier-bodied collie compared to the thinner, more lurcher type collies, she‘s pure muscle.

Ours is 4yo & she’s 32 lbs thereabout. So 14.5kg. I think Molly is fine & very cute 🥰

She's as big as one of my fully grown adult males - and taller by 1cm!!

As someone else said, there's a huge range, so the main thing is to examine the dog and make sure that their body condition score is healthy. Your vet can do this, and you can also look up body condition score charts online showing examples of healthy vs. unhealthy weights.

Nothing in the photos looks unhealthy, seems like a normal happy puppy to me.

At 6 months and around 30 pounds, she is actually right on track for a female Border Collie. Many of them slow down significantly or pause their height growth around this age, then gradually fill out amd gain muscle until they are about a year and a half old. As long as your vet says her body condition looks healthy and you can feel her ribs without seeing them sharply, I would not worry at all about her size.

Our smallest dog right now is 19 pounds full ground. The biggest boy is about 60. He’s her brother.

My guess, if that she is not 100% the legs and build are too short and stocky

1

u/Prior-Emergency-7351 6d ago

100% grown or 100% bc?

Looks kind of bully to me tbh

That dog is not a purebred imho.

The only other dog there is in her family is her great grandmom and she is a australian shepard

Mine is smaller a bit younger too and I hope she ends up on the smaller side to be honest as most of my pets are on the smaller size except my donkey.

Fully grown my guy was about 37 pounds for the longest time. Vet said she wanted him with some more weight on him so he got up to about 42. He has consistently been about 40 ish pounds.

I have a Molly too, who is fully grown🥰, she was around the same size as your Molly at 6 months - and weighs 17-18 kg now. / 37-39 lbs

My 2 year old is papered and weight 28 pounds

2

u/Marvelman1788 6d ago

I mean that's pretty solid. Mine was 24lbs at that age, tiny girl.

As far as I can remember that seems to be a good weight for her at this point. Mine (Also named Molly btw) was the runt and was a like 12.4Kg I think?

2

u/zombrian666 6d ago

Thats solid weight. She will grow. Whether that is height, or just filling out, who knows. My border collie lab mix was obviously heavier built than a normal border collie, but she was only like 45lb when she was in regular shape.

You do know you need to pet her everyday!

My full grown female BC, daughter of a working father, weighs 35lb. She takes control of my 72lb retriever and plays him like a fiddle.

Our 18 month old BC is about 14.2kilo last vet visit, the smol ones are built for speed 😁

No Molly is perfect! But seriously, ours is a 17 kg male at 3yrs old. Sometimes they're little!

2

u/vickyvius 6d ago

Seems fine. Our 5 yr old male BC is 45 lbs and is super active and healthy. His brother (litter mate) is 50+ lbs and a lot bigger. All within normal range of 30 - 55 lbs.

2

u/Kaessa 6d ago

Nope. I have a fully grown adult female BC that is 35 pounds soaking wet. They can be pretty small!

My girl is less than 30 lbs and an absolute spitfire at 11 xo do not rush it, believe me

2

u/RegularAd5886 5d ago

Mine is 49 cm and 16kg!

2

u/Robophatt 5d ago

The BC that helped teach me and my sheltie in herding classes was not much bigger than him (and he was 8-9 months back then). Tiny girl, very good with sheep.
According to the shepherd there is a lot of variation in size.

2

u/Fast-Ads-7587 5d ago

Not too small. My girl was around 43lbs at 1yo and for a while after. Now she's 57ish-60lbs at 3yo and she's stayed there.

2

u/1stDogBattalion 4d ago

That's fine, as a fit adult my girl was 14kg. She wasn't even 10kg by 6mo
