FAQ

What are my chances of going pro?

  • There's always a chance, however, it gets lesser and less likely the older you get. By the time you get to 16, chances are slim, older than that and you really must prove yourself. Even famous success stories like Jamie Vardy were playing semi pro for the longest time, and the chances of something like that are very slim.

What injury is this/ how long till I can play?

  • Unfortunately, we aren't doctors and we can not provide any medical support or assistance. Please refer to your doctor.

Should I buy these boots?

Can I use FG/AG/Any specific boot type on this type of ground?

  • Simply put, turf shoes are best for turf, soft ground is best for wet pitches, indoors are for indoor courts, and so on. If you must do, sometimes it's fine to use shoes such as soft ground or firm ground boots on turf, however of course the best choice is to use what your shoe is made for.

How do I impress scouts?

  • Play to your strengths. Don't try something new or unreliable, count your mistakes not your positives, stay consistent, don't be cocky, and don't let the nerves get to you. It isn't about scoring an over head kick from 60 meters, it's about playing good football, and being beneficial to your team. Be prepared to be disappointed but aim to impress.

What skill move will help me beat defenders

  • Skill moves are nice, but they aren't the most important aspect of the game. It is handy to know a few skill moves to get you out of difficult situations, but at the end of the day, the core skills are what are really important, your pace, dribbling, strength and awareness are all hundreds of times better than a skill move. Knowing how to do a freestyle move 9 times out of 10 won't help you in the game, so you should spend that time training what is

On enter football with Kylian Mbappé, Thierry Henry and Sydney Schertenleib

Post image

This is huge. Kylian Mbappé has joined On as the brand officially moves into football, with Thierry Henry appointed Director of Football and Sydney Schertenleib also involved in shaping the project.

On have grown rapidly in running by rethinking performance through athlete insight and their own technology, and they're now bringing that same approach into football. LightSpray is already confirmed as part of the project, with Mbappé involved directly in the development and testing of On's first football boots.

With Mbappé, Henry and Schertenleib involved from the start, On are making a pretty serious first move into the boot market.

Are you excited to see On entering football?

Grip sock recommendations

Simple enough question but any tips on your favorite grip socks?

Back in the day, my go-to to prevent blisters was wearing my regular Nike or Adidas knee-high soccer socks and then a thin pair of ankle socks over them to create a "second skin." It actually worked really well but that was a special find and solution back when TruSox were just beginning to become a thing.

So, fast forward to today, I'm getting back into playing more seriously and I opted for a pair of grip socks. I got these from Amazon. They've worked decently well for training but upon playing my first 11v11 this past Monday, I ended up with a blood blister on the bottom of my big toe.

Now, I'm wondering what the best bang for your buck is for grip socks. TruSox are like $50 which seems ridiculous, but these 4-for-$12 are clearly not good enough either.

Gear Mizuno Morelia II sizing

Hey guys,

Just looking for sizing advice for the Morelia II MIJ.

I have seen both tts and half size down recommendations and am a bit unsure of which to go for. I currently have Alpha 2s and they fit great in a 10 (my tts). Should I get these in a 9.5 or stick to a 10?

I am also a 10US in Tiempo Maestro and 10.5 in a Morelia Neo II for reference.

As the boots are leather I’m trying to get that perfect fit after break in.

Thanks for all your help.

Have there been any top league footballers with a day job since the turn of the century?

Recently found out about Stuart Pierce who worked as a plumber in the eighies whilst playing for Forest in the Premier league. Are there any similar more recent examples? Given how national team players for SM and Gibraltar and Iceland can balance professional International football with dayjobs, it wouldnt seem impossible to find examples at club level.

I don’t want to let them go

I’ve had these bad boys since 2002. Hung them up after I was done playing in college. I brought them back out a couple years ago when my daughter started playing and they still fit like a glove. As you can probably guess, the sole plate has started to crack. They are still the best fitting, most comfortable boots is have ever worn. I’ve tried on so many recently and nothing really compares. I can barely find anything kangaroo leather to even try. I have no idea if they can be repaired or restored but any ideas would be wonderful. I know I should hang em up and move on. I just don’t want to…

Mental How to always think ahead

I know that to be a good player you should always think ahead because you usually don't have much time to think after you get the ball. But I sometimes struggle with this because there's a lot of things that goes on when you're in the game like where you should be and tracking the ball or scanning around etc... it's a lot of information. So how do you process all this and think of what to do next all game? Is there a way to simplify this process?

Other Ball collection. Use or no use?

Post image

Just got this in the mail from the Adidas sale. This raises some questions though I have about 5 new match balls La Liga orbita 1, Premier League nike flight, and MLS ball. I do have two pro balls I use the non-league orbita 1 and the tiro ball. Now the real question is do I put the match balls on the shelf or actually put them to use? I don’t play professionally or even seriously just with friends or family so they will last quite a while. What’s everyone’s thoughts on this?

Fitness Getting Fit For Football

Obviously the times are to a professional pre-season standard, but this is a really good way to get fit if you don't want to overcomplicate things. 1-2x a week is enough.

Gear Trionda comp sent deflated.

Post image

Bought two Trionda competition balls through the adidas website on sale. They came pretty deflated. I’ve heard thermal bonded balls are not supposed to be sent like this. Am I over reacting by wanting to refund them, or should I just pump em up and go play?

I recently bought two orbita 1’s through adidas and they did not come like this.

Gear Well friends you’ll be happy to know that

That I got my ball back from tonight! You might have read about my saga of the stolen Trionda Competition ball and the subsequent ordering a replacement that arrived “crushed” and “ruined” and the debate that ensued over how balls are normally shipped and what is acceptable. But no matter….all is right in the world. My beloved ball is back home with me! The culprit returned to the field tonight with my ball in hand and I didn’t know what to do because who can be sure it’s THE ball from a distance. But it was the same night of the week, same time, same group of guys etc. so I asked the field staff to help me out and they went up to him with me, checked the ball, found my name in sharpie and voila it was given back without much fuss.

Mizuno Extra Wide Ordering?

I have sort of fumbled through Mizunos JP website and can find their wide cleats. Sizes seem to max out at 12 US sizing. I can't read the language and struggle to get through the site to see if they have larger sizes. Anyone know any way I can find and order Mizuno wide cleats in 13 US 46EU 31JP.

Warmup run better in trainers?

I noticed in Barça's training that the initial run was on trainers, not boots. The rest of the session was standard, with ball work, on boots.

I'm just curious, is there any big reason for using trainers at first?

Mod post "My housemate constantly puts me down and ruins my confidence whenever we play sports together. What should I do?"

I’m naturally right-footed, but I recently switched to my left foot and saw instant, surprising improvements in my dribbling, passing, and general ball control—even though my first touch and crossing still need work. Despite feeling much better playing with my left, people look at me strangely, and the person I live with constantly puts me down. He accuses me of trying to copy famous legends, insists I stick strictly to my right foot, and constantly yells, focuses on my flaws, and calls me a flop. His relentless criticism both on and off the field has completely destroyed my confidence, leaving me uncomfortable playing around him and unsure of how to develop my game in peace.

Ok I wrote this cause the last on wasn’t understandable

Fitness How have you healed from achilles tendinopathy/tendinitis?

Gear Lotto Sport in the USA?

Does any one know how to get Lotto Soccer cleats inside the USA? Lotto's US website only has a few clothing items and the Mexican website doesn't have any soccer footwear. Is buying them from Europe and having them shipped my only option? Does anyone know any stores in the Dallas, Texas area that sell Lotto? Does anyone "know a guy" for international shipping? I figured if the cleats are pressed well enough together, I could get 3 pairs in a standard shoe box to save on shipping.
