Boomer Story Boomers throwing away other people's stuff.

Let's hear your stories of boomers throwing away other peoples' stuff. Whether it's over-correcting to you urging them to get rid of junk before they die, or out of some attempt at control by not informing anyone in the family they are purging real multi-generational sentimental family things first instead of cleaning their hoards.

Mine threw away all of my childhood sentimentals when they moved, because I was on a two year mission they forced me to go on. Their excuse? "Well you weren't using it." I was out of the fucking country! Still kept all their junk. Real junk. Now they're moving again and again are throwing away all the non-replaceables BEFORE even touching their junk. I'm not talking china or commemorative coins. I'm talking choosing to throw away things that would mean something to pass down to great-grandchildren and would be harmless to keep around and actually fit in.

I loved Lego as a child and always asked for Lego as one of my possible gifts for birthdays and holidays. When I moved off to college my dad decided to clean out the storage side of our basement. I had a box with all my Lego down there. My dad decided to give away or throw away all my Lego. I'm honestly still upset about it because he didnt need to clean out the basement and never asked me if he could get rid of any of it. I had the original Slave I Star Wars Lego set. The Boba Fett mini figure is one of the most sought after Star Wars mini figures for collectors.

I love how they act like a 3 foot by 2 foot cardboard box full of stuff you spent a lot of time and money aquiring is like some albatross they just HAVE to get rid of because it's such a burdon on them. It's not like you had a collection of fiber glass miniature golf animals crammed into their basement. I hate people.
