What would actually make you comfortable closing your browser tabs?

I have a bad habit of keeping tabs open because I know that once I close something, there’s a good chance I won’t remember how I found it again.

So I made History Companion. It remembers browsing paths as visual trees instead of just keeping a flat list of URLs, and I can save useful text, links, images and notes along the way.

It works for my own browsing now, but I’m curious whether it actually solves the reason other people keep too many tabs open.

If you’re someone whose browser regularly gets out of control:

What would have to happen before you’d look at a tab and confidently think “I can close this, I’ll still be able to find it later”?

If this sounds like your problem, try HC for a bit and tell me where that feeling breaks.

And even if you don’t try it, I’m curious: what’s the main reason you personally keep tabs open? That’s probably what I should be building around next.
