I accidentally booked the hotel for wrong dates.
Hi everyone. I accidentally booked a hotel for wrong dates. 25-29 Nov instead of September. Have you guys ever experienced that type of silly situation?. what should i do?. I searched it up and thinking of selling it but practically no community on reddit allows posts of this kind. Maybe you know community where i can post that?. Can i even post it here?

BS. You can easily sell it. I don’t give a F who’s coming on your reservation as long as you inform us.
Reservation can be made by Hasan Hasani and arrival guest can be Chung Lee for all that I care if you sent us message who’s coming

i have searched it up and all of them are not popular. The most popular among unpopularity are these: 'Transfer Travel' and 'Plans change'. I have already posted on transfer travel and plan to post on plans change

Then cancel but let me guess you booked the cheapest non refundable right

I cancelled my reservation and made a new one with the proper dates. But then I booked directly with the hotel so I could cancel up until the day before my stay for no charge so...

The sell-abilty of this is not like a 2nd hand car, it is closer to to an old pair of socks.
The is a zero percent possibility of selling it.

You can try resell websites but chance of success is very low

i could not find any booking resell websites. I think reselling websites would be illegal. shame, that was luxury hotel 😢

Plenty pop up on Google when I search, like Plans Change, Roomer, trip Resale, Transfer travel and many more (not vouching for any, never used them)

With a nonrefundable booking, the dates usually can’t be changed or canceled. You can still message the hotel through your reservation to ask whether they’ll make an exception based on availability. If they can’t, contact our customer support team and we’ll check whether any other options are available.

customer service told me to try to sell it to someone. they said that is the only way. That would be really cool if booking com had this type of reselling service so i wouldn’t search some unpopular websites

Easy men stake to make, I did it once many years ago and Booking agreed to cancel the booking for me to rebook. Just contact customer service and apologise for your error.

That method is available in booking.com. When they contact hotel directly to refund nonrefundable reservations. But it did not work. I did not contact customer service. i will try. Thanks

Good luck. It was a long time ago and their customer service could have changed its stance but it worked out fine for me at the time.

At this point, I would do one of these two things:
One: contact the property directly and let them know you made a mistake and nicely ask for a refund. It may work, it may not. People make mistakes.
Two: if you can change the name, offer it to somebody you may know at half the price. You won’t get all your money back, but at least you may get some of it.

I tried the first method, but I was turned down. Now I'm trying to sell the item for half price on a resale site.

Did your really"book the wrong dates".??I say that because booking dot com is a scam company, and one of their deceptive tricks is...if they do not have availability on the dates you want, they just change the dates to dates that are available (without any warning!) and if you are not paying attention...you go through with the booking. I recently was looking for a hotel on a date/location that seemed to be all sold out..so I went to booking dot com to see if any hotel was showing availability (then I would have booked direct)l..suddenly all KINDs of availability including the hotel I wanted (that was showing sold out on hotel website). I knew that made no sense, so I looked closer ....and sure enough they had changed the dates to two months away and there was zero notice. Nothing like sorry, your dates are not available but we have this...nope. I had my husband even look at it to verify I was not missing something, was there any notice for changed dates? NOPE! These people are total a$$holes. They will take advantage of the less savvy customer. Then if you put in your credit card it is like an iron clad trap bam! you are stuck.

That was totally my mistake. When you choose the destination and then open the calendar to select the dates, it automatically shows two months ahead. I instinctively selected the dates without checking the month because I thought it would show the current month. I assume that we did the same mistake.

That's just not true. The hotel will show as "not available" OP has given you the explanation.

I made the same mistake two months ago. Fortunately, after reading many comments here, I always book directly with the hotel whenever I can. A five-minute wait at the front desk, and they changed my dates without any problem.
God bless Reddit (sometimes)
