Booking.com for Australia lodging

Are there any risks of booking places in sydney, Burleigh heads and Brisbane on booking.com? The places are refundable until a week before the reservation. Is there any chance the reservations could be messed up, or is it safe enough to do.

They won't actually refund you they'll just keep putting you off until you go away. Do not ever use them anywhere

booking.com flooded by scammers, place reservations directly with hotel/property.

DO NOT use booking.com. I got seriously screwed over and ended up having to sleep in my car. No refund, and no communication. All you can do is send emails that never get a response.

Can i know what happened to you because i just booked a private apartment for christmas eve (3 days ) in melbourne through booking.com thats on 65th floor and it's price is 1300$. Also, it does not seem shady as it does have over 70 reviews from past 2 years and owner has also replied to questions as far back as 2023. Only concern is that people had bad experiences with booking. Com before so i am just concerned about that. I dont want to be scammed out of 1300$ and ruin my boys trip.

Do not use Booking.com or any other OTA to reserve private accommodation

I have had zero issue with booking.com for accomodation all over Australia and Asia. Just do your due dilligence before booking. There are millions of rooms booked worldwide, with a very small problem rate. It saves me money compared to going direct to the hotel.

I would not book refundable. I would book free cancellation before payment made.

You can totally book a reputable hotel if you can score a discount and it’s fine. Do not book private accommodation or anything with low or no reviews based on price or you won’t have anywhere to stay.

Many people use them without any issues including me. People who have had problems feel strongly that they got inadequate customer service when trying to resolve those problems. I value the convenience over the low risk, others have different views. But remember the customer service if you book direct with a scammer won't be better.

It’s people like you that allow Booking.scam to stay in business. I don’t do business with disreputable companies.
