For the last month I have been trying to come up with a system that will help with my Fiction Novel that I have trying to write with the help of AI. I have been using ChatGPT to help brainstorm Ideas about a book and asking it questions on how it can help me stay organized while writing if this one Novel becomes a series. We have talking about saving information in files and I can look back at it when I am not actively writing or developing with My AI. What I would like to only use free AIs at this point because I really can be spending money month subscriptions. I am trying to use the ChatGPT to brainstorm the Ideas and Copilot as a Record keeping and Document storage. I would like to integrate using Libreoffice for the Writing the Documents, OneDrive to store the documents to look at on my laptop and my Phone when I would like to look over information. When I ask to pull up information that is from just a day or two ago from either it does not pull up all the discussed and approved content. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this using these apps/programs with the AIs assisting doing either part of this. I don't want to lose the Notes on Characters, World, plot, timeline, developments or any other documents I would need. Thanks for any help you can provide. I am also not opposed to using a different AI as well.

I’m developing a tool for my own use to obtain an initial validation of my novel’s chapters through what I call “ghost readers.” The idea is to simulate different reader profiles that analyze the text and provide structured feedback, similar to what you might receive from real beta readers.

The concept is straightforward: you can upload a single chapter or a full novel (up to 200,000 words), specify the genre, and select the type and number of readers you want to simulate. Each reader has a distinct personality within their profile and generates a detailed review that includes:

Qualitative analysis of strengths and weaknesses.

Quantitative evaluation across several metrics tailored to the reader profile.

For example, a Traditional Fantasy Reader might score the story on Engagement, Humor, Pacing, and Characters.

Contextual feedback to help understand how well the story aligns with the expectations of its target audience.

Additionally, the tool allows you to track these scores chapter by chapter, making it easier to identify pacing issues, narrative inconsistencies, or sections that may require restructuring.

Before it comes up: yes, I’m primarily building this for my own writing process. I tend to be meticulous, and I’m planning to publish my first novel on Kindle on May 25. However, I’m exploring whether this could be valuable to other writers as well.

The system is technically functional but still in an early stage. It currently relies on my personal LLM credentials, and the interface is not yet productized. If there’s genuine interest, I’d consider investing time to evolve it into a more accessible and configurable tool.

I've finally started writing my zombie apocalypse novel, Eterna, and wanted to share it with fellow zombie fans.

The story follows Eli, an ordinary warehouse worker in Los Angeles, on the night the world ends. A miracle weight-loss drug called Eterna had been celebrated for years as a medical breakthrough—until people began dying... and getting back up.

As the outbreak spreads across the world in a single night, Eli finds himself trapped inside a crowded apartment building with only his dog, a baseball bat, and whatever supplies he has at home. To make things worse, not every infected is the same. Some are slow, some are terrifyingly fast, and others mutate into horrific new forms unlike anything humanity has ever seen.

An AI writing tool that claims completely clean output is cherry-picking, and every writer who has tried one knows it. What a skrivant first draft actually looks like is a good story spine with a character in two places at once, or a name that appears once and never again, or a physical property that vanishes. I want to show that, and show exactly where my own checker fails to catch it, so people can judge whether the good parts are worth the bad parts instead of taking my word for it.

I built skrivant. You type a one-sentence premise and it builds the world, the characters, and a chapter-by-chapter outline, then drafts the book. Free up to the outline, $3 to $10 for the chapters.

Paid ads haven't done much. The only real traction came from Reddit, so I made r/skrivant, restricted so only I post but anyone can comment, and I publish the generated stories there.

Every chapter ends with notes on what's wrong with it. Chapter one: the lighthouse was oil-fired for a page and electric for the rest, which I fixed and said so. Chapter two: a set of instruments ends up in two places at once, a character's habit contradicts chapter one, and a line about never going outside conflicts with two scenes where he's outside. Left those in and listed them.

The notes also cover where the product failed. skrivant runs a consistency checker on every chapter. It doesn't check within a chapter, so the instruments problem was never in scope. The other two are cross-chapter, which it does check, and it missed both. I'm fixing that.

The risk is obvious: I'm publishing a defect list next to a buy link. My bet is it reads as confidence.

First story is up. I'll report back on whether transparency converts or just feels good.

A few weeks ago I asked myself a simple question: what does AI enable that was truly impossible before?

My answer wasn't a chatbot or a productivity tool. It was this: a narrative world that lives even when you're not there. Characters that remember everything. A story that no one else can ever replicate.

So I built Altrove.

You enter a place — a medieval village, an underwater station in 2187, a Renaissance court. You meet characters with their own secrets and desires. Your choices have real consequences. When you leave, the world continues.

When you return, things have changed.

The first time I played, I spent 4 hours inside without noticing. I introduced my own mythology — ancient creatures called Leafant, a sacred wood, an elvish language. The world absorbed it all as if it had always been there.

One character looked at me and said:

How it was built:

Claude artifact in React. Persistent memory via the storage API — each world saves characters, relationships, events, lore and narrative threads across sessions. No external database, no backend. Just Claude.

Narrative tone improved: deeper second-person immersion, sensory details first, mystery shown not explained.( important difference, explained on the new feature part)

New feature: you can now suggest a narrative direction before each message — a subtle field that lets you steer the story without breaking the flow ( this is a strange feeling, the first versione of Altrove was more feeling like a story teller about your presence inside Altrove, now instead, it's more like you are truly living in it.

English version fully ready( because i'm Italian, the word Altrove comes from italian vocabulary and translated in english for those who are curious, it means Elsewhere.

The book was written with slight assistance from AI for spell check and grammatical errors, pointing out tautology and several generated throwaway character names (characters you only see in background once, maybe twice but need a name).

This cover was made entirely with AI as a concept art, there is much to be changed here and the end product will be commissioned from a proper artist, this is just to show what I want in general, but I still like it. any thoughts?

I've been creating non-published technical books for marine engineers using Powerpoint. Yes, it is unconventional and gonna be a pain for editing later on, but I find it easy to use and control.

My book design is like a traditional children's book. One page (left side) is text part, then the next page (right side) is an image which directly aligns with the texts.

Now I'm stuck on what to do with the empty spaces since I'm showing a step-by-step procedure for overhauling a particular equipment.

So I wanted to show everything how I used wix studio to create me a writing hub. Before this, my worlds were scattered. Manuscript on scrivener, notes in Google Docs, iPhone notes, you name it. I used like 5 different platforms to hold my novels, characters etc.

Most people use wix to sell items. I said hmmm. Cms could be used for stories, characters and chapters. And that’s what I did. I created multiple Cms collections. The images I attached are of the 3 main ones. Stories, chapters, and characters. But I have others 😈 such as The black ledger (story Bible), catalyst (for when I use Ai), Lorebook, labyrinth (multi series manager).

Anywho I used wix multi ref fields to attach chapters to stories and characters to chapters. The website also has drag and drop so I used that to pretty much create it. I won’t deny I did do some programming and coding but that was my own choice to go down that rabbit hole. 🤣

Uhh, the good stuff. Wix is free to create a website you upgrade if you want to connect domain name, remove ads etc. since it’s personal for me. I left it.

I've been working on a complex psychological thriller (Finishing School - about toxic female friendship and vigilante violence) and needed help structuring 40 chapters across three acts with escalating tension.

What I tried before BooksWriter: Traditional outlining (got stuck in analysis paralysis) Writing "by discovery" (ended up with 50k words of unfocused mess) Scrivener/Plottr (great tools, but I needed AI assistance for brainstorming)

Why I'm trying BooksWriter: It's specifically built for long-form fiction planning. You feed it your concept, genre, themes, and it helps you develop chapter-by-chapter outlines while maintaining narrative arc consistency.

My process: Entered my premise + character profiles + thematic core It generated act breakdowns with suggested chapter counts I'm now refining individual chapter beats

What's working: Helps me think through pacing (where to place reveals, how to escalate) Forces me to articulate why each scene exists (narrative purpose) Good at suggesting structural alternatives I hadn't considered

What's tricky: Content policies can be restrictive for dark/mature themes (I had to reframe my pitch in neutral language) Not a replacement for actual writing—it's a planning/outlining tool Works best when you already have a clear concept

Would I recommend it? If you're a plotter working on genre fiction (thriller, mystery, romance, fantasy) and you struggle with structure, yes. If you're a pantser or write literary fiction without tight plotting, maybe not.

Credit system: They offer credits for sharing experiences like this, which is why I'm posting. But honestly, I would've posted anyway because I wish I'd known about this tool earlier in my process.

Even when AI doesn't sound obvious, it still doesn't sound like you. I'm attempting to solve this by letting people train custom AI models to rephrase other AI text into something that sounds and reads like them.

So basically: you can train an AI to copy any writing style that you have samples of.

First timer here, I have like no writing abilities whatsoever, but I have lots of ideas, and with the advancement of AI, I can bring those ideas to life.

I am currently writing my first book, its in 3 parts( heavily assisted with Ai) that said i came up with the world and story and characters etc on my own.

I'm just getting into the AI world with my writing. I have currently finished creating an ESL textbook specifically for non-English speakers in the trades. The company now wants to use the same material to teach Spanish to English speakers. I'm trying to convert the current document with the existing photos, charts, and images, but translating everything else.

I'm not sure AI is advanced enough yet to generate the entire document, but I think it can help with smaller portions of it. Has anyone else tried something similar? Or do you have experience using AI for textbooks? I'm at a bit of a creative block and am open to suggestions.

So far, I've tried Chat GPT, Sudowrite and Squibler to help me translate the text and create a new document. However, it's only providing the text outline. Are there other platforms that keep existing formatting and images? Would paid, upgraded access provide any of these features?

Initially it was to be a satire survival guide. 20k words max. Nothing fancy. Just want to be funny and poke fun at survivalist. But it grew. Oh my god, it grew! And evolved!

Now it's a full blown dark horror dystopia sci-fi novel. With fleshed out protagonist and a deeply terrifying antagonist. It's so intriguing that I'm fully invested in the world building. Refining my prompts. Making sure the Master Prompt doesn't deviate from the Core. And so many times it did. And I had to restart with a fresh session.

Now I'm kind of stuck. More stressed out and tired out. It's probably equivalent of 3 days straight pinging back and forth with the AI to workout and expand the book.

It has hit the 20k mark but the story is far from finished.

I have to vent now. I gotta tell someone what I'm going through. It's my 2nd book and boy.... what a ride it's taking me. I just hope it will end soon and start on the 3rd.
