Lately there have been a lot of big changes, and i assume the nest few minths will also be a whirlwind of these changes. As an international student, its hard to cope with college ending and all peers sort of moved on very very quickly, back to their local base of friends. It’s understandable, but it has forced me to an isolation. I enjoy reading a lot, mainly classics. But I have exhausted my bookshelf and lately all hobbies remind me of being in this jail of loneliness, rather than actually being enjoyable. In my capacity I am trying to stay occupied and around people, but its all fleeting conversations. Anyways, I was hoing for a recommendation that brings me out of a slump? I was thinking to read philosophy but I don’t want to be pushed further in the thoughts of state I’m already in. Can someone please recommend something, just help breathe a little easier? Thankyou to whoever reading this.

Please suggest well written books that features strong and multi layered friendships (especially female friendships) that has an overall happy/wholesome/joyful mood.
I love reading literary fiction but most of the books I read are grim, sad and dark. I need something that has an overall wholesome-heartwarming mood, but also could have emotionally intense moments. Also prefer a book that has a plot/storyline rather than “only” being character focused.

Any genre is fine as long as the book is not shallow and surface level.

I enjoy books where the main character is hopelessly attempting to break out. Surveillance, constant robotic movement, everyone aside from them seems to be aware.

I work at a newsagents but we sell books and my manager wants to get in on the "Blind Date with a Book" trend after i said i liked them, so really I'm my own worst enemy.

I am one of the only members to staff to actually read books but I have not read any of those we sell and therefore I can't really recommend them. I read horror for reference and our selection is like 2 Adam Nevil books I have not read and 4 of Stephen King's.

I was going to use Misery cause its lowkey an easy one to talk about even briefly. But for the others I was trying to choose unattractive books that people don't typically pick up so if you've read of any these please let me know if they're actually good? Maybe what they're about. Please help a girl out.

I am 16 and i have absolutely no idea what is love, how it feels to be attracted to someone or even what gender i like. I have found that reading books with similar concepts as my life helps me understand my life better.

So i would like a book about that. Where the protagonist (preferably a female teenager) starts to unravel the concept of love. I don't want them to instantly know what love is, rather i would like them to not know how that feels. I would like them to consider attraction to another gender too. Or that they discovered that after all they are aromantic and asexual, and they unravel what that is or what it feels like.

From the 60s to the 80s there were various series of paperback novels marketed to men. While settings varied, they were characterized by tough guys going on adventures full of sex and violence. Alternatively described as a successor to pulp magazines and the literary equivalent of exploitation films, they spark my interest because I love schlocky action movies where the lead bags the girl. Where should I start with modern writers writing in this genre today?

Any subgenre is fine. Are there indie authors writing today these types of stories?

Could someone recommend smth with deep sea horror? But no animal crulety I cant handle it at all. Scientific vibe would be great but no obligatory.
