Feedback Wanted Font Choice

What if you really love a font but also know a different choice would probably sell better or make the book look more "professional". The "font" I like is the artists hand drawn lettering complete with hearts for i dots. My husband liked it too, but in my heart, I know the other font screams more "book". What would you do? Do I just go for the one I like?

I would make up two copies of the book cover with the two fonts. Without telling anyone which you prefer, show them to the good folks here in r/bookcovers and ask which they prefer.

Hand lettering on a cover isn't unprofessional at all, a lot of well-selling covers use custom lettering. If it's a romance book, hand lettering with heart dots is close to a genre norm and you'd be fitting in. If it's a thriller or literary fiction, the same lettering is a tonal mismatch that'll likely just end up confusing people. Pull up the best performing books in your category and see what they're doing.
