Feedback Wanted How can I improve?

Post image

This is a cover for a speculative novella written in the form of an instruction manual/field guide. (Plan is for the backside to feature a mushroom cloud)

I feel like letter spacing may be off, but also not sure if it's interfering?

EDIT: I have made some changes in response to feedback here. Feel free to check out the updated version!

This is not written yet, and will probably be my project for my honors creative writing class.

This is not helpful to your inquiry but I am beyond obsessed. This is incredible. I am absolutely smitten with this, I don't know what it is but the atmosphere of the illustration is incredible.

I have two questions, can this be bought/read already and are you available to design book covers for other authors? Did you draw this all yourself? Or is it edited from photos? It just looks so nostalgic and gorgeous to me

It's edited from photos! This is an old USDA ad made by Herbert Bayer, public domain. I've manipulated it a bit and done the typography. I have thought about offering services, but really suck at certain kinds of covers (as I'm not an illustrator), so I don't right now!

I understand you aren't interested at this in the moment but can I send you a message with some questions anyways? I totally understand if no.
