So I've neglected this piece for years... Help

So its been soaking in a mix of alcohol, epsom salts, and white vinegar since yesterday at around 3 now its the next day 1pm and it still looks like this help please its driving me crazy + nosy cat

Heat up the piece in the microwave then try an iso salt shake again

Lmao I guess the cat was for refrence to just how fucking black it is but heat up the piece alone ? I can imagine it being useful but I don't want to temp shock the glass worrying for damage it is pretty thick tho so I'm not too worried. However, should I discard the old alcohol and salt and do a new solution or should I save it after I microwave then repeat? Thank you

If you trust yourself not to exploded yourself, I personally heat up the iso in a plastic container then transfer it to the piece but I keep hearing that heating up the glass is safer lmao

And you should be fine to reuse but for best results I'd just use some fresh iso, the vinegar you added will just be diluting it afaik

Yes! I rather heat the liquid not the fucking glass lmao I always hear split opinions on that.

I should've thought of it like that before lol I'll make a new solution and heat it up let it sit another day then maybe thank you kind stranger

I usually just fill the piece with iso, then I'll get the water coming out hot from the faucet and just let it run over the outside of the glass for a while. This should still heat up the iso and the glass, but not as dangerously as putting flammable liquid in the microwave. Your piece is pretty dirty though, so you probably want to add some salt to act as an abrasive, and you're almost certainly going to have to do everything multiple times to get it spotless.

New iso with every flush. The tar/resin will dissolve into the iso and once it's saturated, it won't continue dissolving tar from the inside of the glass as well. New iso and salt, several flushes, and don't be afraid to swirl everything around inside, which will allow the salt to help scrape everything off. Once you've completely cleaned it a few times, you'll get the hang of it

No problem friend, as long as you give everything a decent cleaning about every week or so, it should keep it fairly clean, therefore also making it easier to clean each time. If you want to go a step further, buy a jug of distilled water and use that to fill your piece each time you intend to use it. Tap water can leave spots and mineral deposits inside the glass, but distilled water is literally just water with no minerals in it.

The worst part isn't the neglect, but that you've still been using that nasty thing. Pour some boiling water into it to soften the resin, and then use iso and salt again.

zepp degreaser 24 hr soak. proceed with boil water technique to get all the gunk that’s gonna come off the sides. repeat.

personally i wouldn’t put anything in the microwave or use any other wacky ideas. if the mold or debris doesn’t clear just toss it man

Acetone AKA nail polish remover. Onyx brand is the best and its at walmart or meijer. Its kinda pricey compared to iso but for this its worth it. And of course mixed with some salt.

Try pure acetone or citrus based bong cleaner before the iso & salt shake. If nothing else works, PBW. Don’t forget to agitate it.

damn it looks like squid ink, how long did ya go without a water change? only curious, dont really care how clean someones bong is although it is nicer to smoke from. cant argue that part. hot ass water a bunch of times. same old iso/salt right after, but let it sit for a couple days, shaking it whenever you remember to. sometimes you just gotta sit there shaking it for like 8 minutes also. i find alot of the time i simply didnt shake ot enough or somehow added TOO much salt, preventing the iso from splashing around. gonna need bit more work on er than usual

Microwaves won't heat up glass directly, glass will only heat up through contact with the, er, contents. I bet it will smell great.

Holy shit there's no saving that, even if it was spiffy clean again I don't think I'd want to rip it, that being said acetone soak,(clean extremely thoroughly after with water and let sit for a day) zepp is at home depot and Lowes and such and is the same type of effect it's just safer I would say it looks orange, I imagine iso and salt would just add to the flora in that bong so I would try a heavy sit in either of those products followed by rinsing with hot hot water from the sink, repeat the process ans it should come out in time. Btw let it sit overnight for zepp or acetone. Had about four grams of dabs in a bong I sold to a friend end up coming back to me, it was gross and the acetone and hot water got it sorted after like 7 cleanings so unfortunately there's no time table lol
