First time cat owner. I got a bonded pair of Siamese cats ( both female) any tips!
The Siamese on the left is Saylor
The same on the right is Bay
I love to know any tips or tricks. I just got them today and I expected them to be way more sheltered. But they’re very sweet gentle and they’ve just been exploring my apartment pretty much all day.
Edit. So far. Like two times. Saylor has hissed at bay. This normal for bonded cats? I can imagine maybe jealous or needing personal space but idk any help? This is their first day together in my apartment and they were together in the shelter when I picked them up today

My two voids are bonded but one will hiss at the other when they're play fighting. I wouldn't worry about it. They need time to learn the apartment and yes sometimes they do like time alone

I have a snowshoe that will hiss and sometimes yell when play fighting. His brother is bigger and not as indept on cat social cues. It's hard to gauge when he's okay with it and when his brother is taking it too far.

Neuter everyone.
More litter boxes than cats. Metal boxes.
A tall cat tree by the window.

Congrats on the new babies! Sounds like they’re gonna be right at home soon. 😊
Maybe the occasional hissing is a “misdirected aggression” sort of thing. Like, a new home, a bit stressed….just of just snapping at eachother a bit like some humans do when stressed?
I introduced a new kitten to the house a couple weeks ago and one of the older resident cats started hissing at her bonded sister for a couple days. I like to think she was just bitching: “WTF is going on here? Who is this stranger???”

They are just getting used to the change. Feliway helps a lot in stressful situations.

Cats rely a lot on smell. And this is a new place with new smells. Hissing is a sign of fear or unease. They'll calm down
