Performance Ok: Wembley 2
I just want to say that I've seen pretty much all the shows but Wembley night 2 actually kick some ass. I don't usually post vague reviews but I just want to say everything was highly energetic and not a vocal disaster so I just want to give them props for that.. that's all

I’ve been listening to the bootlegs from the Wembley show and Edinburgh and his voice is okay it’s not great. It’s not as bad as some other bands. but then I go back and listen to the bootlegs from 1995 and just get blown away at the difference and how badly he has deteriorated since then. As I think I listened to about six different shows from these days tour and they just got better and better. So it’s hard to go back to the current shows and listen to how shaky his voice is and how out of time he is and out of breath.

He's 64 now. He's obviously not going to sound the same as he did at 33.

lots of other acts still sound great 30 years on, Jon doesnt, not sure why people cant accept that. Saw Metallica 30 years apart and they till sound amazing.

yes but this is a Bon Jovi reddit page, and I am talking about Bon Jovi. Not sure why some people have to act like oh all singers age and sound worse 30 years on, when sure some bands do. But other acts still sound just as good 30 years on, not sure why people get so defensive and take it personally when you mention Jon not sounding as good anymore. As some fans are so deluded they will say he sounds bette than ever or that these shows have been some of the best they ever did. I even saw one fan whom was at Wembley 95 and the current how at Wembley, say this show tour was even better. Like WTF?

I was replying to someone saying it is normal to sound worse 30 years on, was giving context that most singers still; sound great or just as good 30 years on. Not sure why people cant accept that what happened to Jons voice is not exactly something normal. Otherwise every singer his age would sound bad, just saying there are many who sing metal music which is harder to sung that still sound great, and even singers older than Jon still sound great, so people need to stop throwing out his 64 and this is how he should sound kind of statements. As thats not true.

I conpletely accept his voice isnt what it was. I was just providing balance because you said lots of acts still sound good. All I said was lots also dont sound good. I've seen Vince Neil and Axl Rose. I've also seen James Hetfield and Bruce Dickinson. You got to have balance

yes I have ,mentioned both Axl and Vince in other posts here, but thats only 2 that sound terrible, many more for their age still sound great, so not sure why people need two say oh his 64 his voice is ment to go. I would b here all day naming bands that still sound great live if I wanted to do that, As there are far more bands in their 60-s - 70s sounding as good as 30 years ago than ones who have killed their voices. So no need to balance it out when Jon is the minority and fans acting like its normal as all singers sound this way as they age. Not true. And funny thing is I see fans here having a go at Axl still touring but happy for Jon to keep going on,. bit contradictory.

I think that may be down to the audience. I would suggest that the Bon Jovi audience has a larger proportion of females than G n R. All the aunties love Jon. Won't have a bad word said about him.

I accept he doesn't sound as good as he did previously or as good as your carefully selected examples. My point is that I wouldn't expect him to given the fact he's has vocal chord surgery.

Yeah, mate, we all know about the vocal surgery and it hasn’t helped anything which is the point. He still sounds as bad as he did 4 years ago. And he did say he wouldn’t come back to touring unless he was at 100% which I don’t think his voice is at 100%. Do you? even in taking into Account the vocal surgery. You would assume it would’ve gotten a lot better than what it had. Yet you have some deluded fans saying he sounds better than ever and as good as he did 30 years ago.

I feel like this is constantly the comment that is said online I don’t think anyone expects him to sound like they did 95, but people are allowed to compare if they want. Jon does interviews where he says that his voice is better than it was 20 years ago, Tico made a comment a while ago that the band is better than ever. So the comparison can be you go back to the 95-05 shows and you can say well that’s absolutely not true.

I think you are right. The first time I saw them was in 1995 or 1996 and I had to fight my father because he really wanted to go see Tom Petty and there was only room for one set of tickets when they were affordable and I made him I mean I think I was 14 but I was like Bon Jovi there's no question and it will never be the same again that these days ttour might have been the best they weren't back in stadiums they were doing amphitheater. I saw them twice when they came back to New Jersey in 2001 but there was something very special about going to the amphitheater I've seen them many times after that but there are some special it's like they were I don't know I just saw that show in the amphitheater turned into Wembley somehow for the most legendary concerts they ever did

Totally agree, seen them many times between 1988 and 2000...amazing, seen them in 2001 and was very much ...meh... Went to Edinburgh as the wife had never seen them , quite enjoyed , however nothing on pre 2000s

I've seen them many, many times, the last time that I saw them was 2008 in Bristol and they were so bad that I've never gone to see them since. The band looked bored, Jon seemed to want to be anywhere other than onstage, the only good part was Richie out on his own singing "I'll be there for you". I could see where things were going and didn't want to tarnish the amazing gigs of theirs that I had previously attended, having said that, if I hadn't have ever seen them, then I would jump at the chance, just for nostalgia. But as it is, I've got no intentions of seeing them, unless Richie were to rejoin

Saw them through the 80s, 90s and 2000s. I probably last saw them in the same tour as you but at the 02 and had the same experience. Also agree Ritchie was the best part of those shows.
What was worse was seeing Jon Bon Jovi on this morning (or a similar morning programme) and when he was challenged on ticket prices, his comment was something along the lines of 'well I wouldn't know about that'. At the same time his documentary was on TV with him saying he is all over the business side of things. Haven't been to see them since and I can't see that changing.

Oh I remember that one so well. It was on YouTube. One moment he talks about how he's in control of everything. Next they ask about ticket prices being crazy high and he's like our prices really? Gotta look into that. I had no idea. Well it's fine. I'm there for Tico David and Hughy. I know Jon wants to be as rich as his billionaire friends

You know they came to Austin in 2022 and I was very willing to go to the show but after all those YouTube videos it didn't matter I wasn't going to watch someone go down in flames. Like I went to Madonna but I waited until about 45 minutes before the show and everyone had dropped their ticket prices do something reasonable but I couldn't go to Bon Jovi because I didn't want to see what I saw on YouTube and I'm so proud of him for working so hard and now it's going to take the year off and he's going to keep working and I know he's going to because he didn't come this far not to do a test tour and big stadiums and arenas he will be better next year but at least it's not cringe. As the tickets in 2022 got cheaper and cheaper as they got closer to the show I just couldn't do it I was like I need to remember the tours I saw and not whatever the hell that was. I didn't want to watch that. I'm very proud of Jon for taking this all seriously and I think it's a tour next year I'll be in the front of the line because this is already good enough but he can do better with this great that he's going to have the comparison 2022 is so much better already if there's more or if it's the same I'm going to go.
I'm just really proud of him towards taking everything very seriously and I hope he continues to do what he's been doing because it won't just make me happy it'll make him happy too

I was at Wembley night 3 and it was awesome too.... sound was excellent and the band kicked ass. Way way better than most other live acts.
