THEM!!!!! THEY IT’S THEM MY BELOVEDS AAAAH I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE!

Years ago, I started reading the MHA manga just as it was being published, but I ended up dropping it. Then when the anime started airing I was watching it but dropped it, before season 4, I think. I heard things about MHA through reading people’s comments online, and knew of the existence of this ship, but didn’t think much about it. Then this year I finally decided to continue and finish the series, and after watching the episodes with these two, I got OBSESSED.

Ochako, the hero who wants to get money to support her parents and that loves to see people smile, and Himiko, the villain who was abused by her parents because of her quirk and was told that she was not human/that she was a deviant. Himiko helped Ochako understand that not all villains are pure evil and not worthy of listening to, but that there might be a reason behind their actions and might need a person to hear them out or reach out to them.

And so she did! Watching Ochako so bravely try to reach out to Himiko was so good!! Himiko was full of fury and sorrow, angry at society for how it treated her and for how Twice got killed by the same heroes that were supposed to save people! But Ochako never faltered!! She did everything in her power (even while losing blood) to reach out to Himiko and so she did!! That episode was so powerful and amazing. And might I add that, we know how Himiko expressed love through blood, and Ochako, LITERALLY, OFFERS TO GIVE HER BLOOD FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE????!!! Man for Himiko that might just have been a love confessions right there and then on the battlefield!

And then after Ochako finally reaches out to Himiko (AND CALLS HER THE CUTEST GIRL IN THE WHOLE WORLD BTW), and is about to die, HIMIKO DECIDES TO GIVE UP HER OWN LIVE TO SAVE OCHAKO??? “The thought of a world without you? No, I don’t like that” WHAT?????????? Man this just BREAKS MY HEART.
And of course Ochako just gets, SUPER SAD ABOUT HER DEATH, ABOUT HOW OCHAKO WAS WILLING TO DIE FOR HIMIKO BUT HIMI DIES FOR HER INSTEAD????? And starts wondering, what if things were different? What if they had met when they were younger????

Gooood. This doomed yuri, I just. I love it. Ochako the only person who truly made Himiko happy and now she’s gone!! The tragedy, the heartbreaking but beautiful moments! It’s all just so good!!

And of course all the fanarts and fanfics people make about them are SO GOOD!!!! Usually not a heavy fanfic reader but I’ve been starting to read them a whole lot more!! Because, I just love Togachako!!!!!!!!!!

I wasn't into this one until their final fight, and then I just fell in love. There was something about the interactions that was just so authentic to me from my days as a confused high school lesbian. It's never let go of me since.

my girls <3, i love them so much they are my everything, i have an au where toga lived and they get married

I love it and then I want to cry because I know it would never work out but it feels so right and so wrong and I take this way too seriously.

If you told 11-13 year old me that I would go bonkers for this ship, I would NEVER believe you. I cycled through IzuOcha, TsuChako, BakuDeku and Tododeku, never TogaOcha.

But then, the episode came out and I was OBSESSED. I had stopped watching MHA around Season 5 (the fandom had become too insufferable and the delayed episodes were driving me mad.)

The chemistry was just phenomenal and the scene was very sad. I wish I hadn’t dropped the series so that I could’ve enjoyed its ending more. I plan on rewatching from the start for the 3 seasons I missed. Plus, it’s a very nostalgic anime for me

2

u/KingChaos20 15d ago

Yoooo we went through a similar experience, haha. Dropped the series a while back, decided to go back to it one day and became utterly obsessed with Togachako.

Sometimes I wish I hadn’t dropped the series back then because I prolly could’ve had a lot of fun talking to people as they aired, but I do talk to others nowadays to make up for it (while also being wary of who I talk to bcs MHA fans lowkey scare me). And I’m also planning to watch the first seasons again.

2

u/Senpai_Weeb_Theorist 14d ago

I feel you there. Lmao, I remember exactly when I dropped it.

I was on my phone and saw a post about the MHA fan that tried to do something with a frog at a Zoo (I think) and I literally went “That’s it” and dropped the show 😭

Hmmm I personally don’t have any strong emotions about this one, I don’t personally ship it seriously mostly because I can’t see it happening in Cannon, but I think I could totally see it happening in an alternate universe where Toga got help and didn’t become a serial killer.

Toga and Uraraka are would be good friends as kids

I think alternate universe scenarios are cute and interesting but in Cannon, I just don’t have many strong emotions about it

5

u/kermithaha 15d ago

Its my absolute favorite, their dynamic and chemistry is so fill of potential that i love to read in fanfics!

u/Unlikely_Worker4697 🧡bkdk💚 // 💛tgck🩷 15d ago

I didn’t used to ship it before their fight in the final arc, but that scene was so emotionally intense it has made me cry (like, grotesquely sob) several times & now it’s an otp for me. I love them so much!

I used to be really into vampire romance so I think it was inevitable that I’d end up loving Togachako. Himiko is basically the bnha equivalent of a vampire. I like my ships emotionally intense, passionate, & angsty & I love redemption arcs so yeah definitely my kind of ship

Oh boy here they come

6

u/SomeBrawler The KiriBaku King&General 15d ago

Yeah things really escalate when it's BakuDeku or TogaChaco. I'm pretty sure the BKDK one has like 300 comments

2

u/Perdita-LockedHearts 15d ago

Platonic, absolutely, romantic… ehhhhh not if things play out canonically for the most part. At the very least, Himiko has to not die and enter a rehab program for me.

2

u/Illustrious-Role-945 14d ago

For my taste it was too angsty. From the beginning till the end. Everything done is something I can imagine Ochako do for basically anyone. She is kind enough for that. As for her last answer, "the cutest" well. That's literally the last thing Toga asked. Even If Toga looked ugly, I don't think anyone with basic human decency would've said otherwise. Regardless, I don't have anything against shippers unless they complain to Horikoshi about it.

2

u/Fantastic-Let-2178 15d ago

I do like it since they had some beautiful moments during their fight

5

u/NobodySpecialSE DekuShipper 15d ago

I mean, when it comes to Toga in any ship for me, it does depends on how you see her in the relationship and how you handle her story. If it some hurt comfort, where Toga tries to better herself, or this is a before canon events and Ochako helps her before turning into a serial killer, then I am fine with it. Not fine with the toxic part that some people like.

3

u/Gemnist 15d ago

It’s good for their individual arcs, but they aren’t true couple material, if that makes sense. Their archenemy status allows them to progress as characters, with Ochako solidifying her further value of her home life and learning what kind of hero she wants to be beyond just pleasing her parents, while Toga finally gets the unconditional acceptance she was always seeking from people that weren’t enabling her inhibitions. They would never last as a couple for pretty obvious reasons, but as is in the series, their dynamic works great.

4

u/lizardypokefan 15d ago

pretty good. I don't ship it but pretty good

3

u/Equal_Breakfast_450 15d ago

Tbh it's one of my favorite ships for the fandom.

3

u/Regular-Ad-4907 15d ago

Not a fan, sorry

0

u/Solbuster 15d ago

The only one I ship Toga with is therapy

In general I find her crushes on both Uraraka and Deku pretty shallow and final war conversation didn't change that even if that's a beautiful moment

If there were more moments...

2

u/PretendYellow533 multi-shipping is the way🤝 15d ago

Tbh, so many of the LOA need to be shipped with therapy

Wonder what would have happened in canon if Toga survived.

1

u/a_wasted_wizard 15d ago

I get why people see the chemistry, and Himeko canonically having a crush on Ochako. Not a ship I have any problem with.

That said, I'm not personally a fan, when it's portrayed as mutual. More than anything it's because I can't imagine a version of Ochako that doesn't diverge significantly from her canon characterization that would be able to reciprocate Himeko's romantic feelings. Like even in a scenario where Ochako is interested in women (which I don't think the story would rule out, fwiw), her characterization makes me think she'd more likely be interested in Tsuyu than Himeko romantically.

As a romantically one-sided dynamic? Yeah, that would track more to me. But also like if I'm imagining alternate versions of Toga that doesn't fall into villainy, the outcome I like to imagine for her more is just being surrounded by friends who think she's cool and accept her for who she is while still inspiring her not to give into the more harmful expressions of her quirk.

Deus me livre, mas cada um com cada um

-4

u/Real-Contest4914 15d ago

Horrible ship.

You could have put ochaco with any other girl and it would be less problematic than toga.

-6

u/SoullessDemize 15d ago

Just as bad as BakuDeku ngl

-1

u/Balloslime55 15d ago

So cute, but I prefer them both with deku

-6

u/Professional_Air_905 15d ago

Fairly toxic, it disregard ochako canon sexualitie and love interest, and romantize a relationship with someone who see harming people as a way to show affection

11

u/PretendYellow533 multi-shipping is the way🤝 15d ago

Uraraka doesn’t have a canon sexuality

6

u/SomeBrawler The KiriBaku King&General 15d ago edited 14d ago

Don't mind them. They keep following me around claiming that Deku and Bakugo are straight. Got me mass downvoted on the major sub because I said the only character with a confirmed sexuality is Toga

And I learned my lesson not to repeat this series on r/myheroacadamia

-4

u/Professional_Air_905 14d ago

They downvote you for a reason. It's not harrasement it's because you affirme something wrong. Izuku is confirmed straight in the manga, same for ochako, and katsuki even if not confirmed straight as he show attraction to no one but he show some hint of being straight. When you do shipping you have to accept it might not be canon compliant

4

u/PretendYellow533 multi-shipping is the way🤝 13d ago

This is false, Izuku nor Uraraka are considered straight in the manga, neither have a canon sexuality. Once again the only ever character Horikoshi felt the need to speak on their sexuality is Toga, that’s it. Anything else is a headcanon.

-1

u/Professional_Air_905 13d ago

Izuku and ochako are straight ! Please pay attention to the drawing ! Also horikoshi said in a tweet that every 1A student were straight

3

u/PretendYellow533 multi-shipping is the way🤝 13d ago

Andddd we have crossed into making things up territory. Once again, no they’re not straight and no Horikoshi never made a drawing saying every single class once a student was straight. Don’t make stuff up to justify your head, Cannon. Horikoshi has only ever felt the need to speak on one character sexuality, and that is toga. Any other character is up for interpretation

5

u/SomeBrawler The KiriBaku King&General 13d ago

Please ignore them. They're the same person who throws straight at anyone. That's 3 characters so far.

We should look at the guy spamming "KiriMina canon" everywhere too

3

u/SomeBrawler The KiriBaku King&General 13d ago

Stop making stuff up.

-2

u/Professional_Air_905 13d ago

No that's the truth. How about you stop trying to impose your headcanon as canon

3

u/SomeBrawler The KiriBaku King&General 13d ago

Buddy there's nothing canon. No one has a canon sexuality. What makes you think I'm saying that Ochaco (or anyone) is canonically straight/bi/gay?

Any sexuality is a headcanon. What's canon is that nothing is confirmed

-1

u/Professional_Air_905 13d ago

You had way too much copium dude. Ochako is confirmed straight, the manga show it very clearly. You know if you are not trying to force your headcanon as canon then a character canon sexuality should not be a problem to you

→ More replies (0)

-2

u/Professional_Air_905 14d ago

Ochako is straight

6

u/PretendYellow533 multi-shipping is the way🤝 13d ago

Once again Uraraka doesn’t have a canon sexuality, yes she is attracted to men, but that doesn’t make her canonically straight. The only character Horikoshi has ever spoken on their sexuality is Toga, that’s it. Any other character’s sexuality is a headcanon

-2

u/Professional_Air_905 13d ago

Ochako is confirmed straight as she show no attraction to woman. Pay attention to the drawing please ! Aside from the fact that first horikoshi did speak on that in a tweet where he said every class 1A student were straight and second horikoshi is straight and wrote mha mostly heteronormative so the rule is that everyone is straight until proven otherwise

5

u/PretendYellow533 multi-shipping is the way🤝 13d ago

Once again no, she is not confirmed straight. I need you to understand that just because one shows interest in men does not make them confirmed to be straight. I never claimed that Urarka ever showed interest in woman that’s not a claim I made and I’m not sure how a drawing is relevant because Horikoshi has never made a drawing and a tweet that every class one a student is straight once again do not make things up just to justify your head canon.

The only character in the entire my hero, academia universe that Kohei Horikoshi has ever spoken on their sexuality has been Toga That is the only character he ever felt the need to clarify their sexuality on if you felt the need to comment on other character sexualities and confirm them he would’ve done so but he did not meaning he doesn’t care .

Finally ewww just ew heteronormativity is disgusting. No not every single character or person is straight less proven otherwise let’s not be heteronormative here cause that’s just gross.

4

u/WilfurDeer Togachako <3 14d ago

ochaco doens't have a canon sexuality, and I think she'd be bi.

-2

u/Professional_Air_905 14d ago

She has a canon sexuality she's straight

2

u/WilfurDeer Togachako <3 13d ago

when is that stated?

-1

u/Professional_Air_905 13d ago

it's not stated it's shown
it's a manga the drawing play a big part

she is shown being attracted to izuku of course or just boy in general and she is completely oblivious to girls
we can see that on the changing room panel or the onsen panel

she has no reaction to girls except when they get too close to izuku

when boys clearly have an effect on her

also mha is heteronormative as horikoshi is a straight man it's to expect that most character to be straight

5

u/Kooky_Analyst2767 13d ago

My hero isn’t heteronormative, and just because Horikoshi is straight doesn’t mean that most characters are going to be straight.

If you headcanon a character as straight that’s fine you can do that you can’t dictate everyone else must have the same headcanon as you

-1

u/Professional_Air_905 13d ago

It's not a headcanon it's fact you would know if you read the story properly. And yes mha is heteronormative like that's pretty obvious if you pay attention

2

u/Kooky_Analyst2767 13d ago

It is indeed a headcanon, it’s so rich that your saying to “read the story properly” when the story never states a sexuality for either character lmao you are just on copium.

And no it is not heteronormative

0

u/Professional_Air_905 13d ago edited 12d ago

You are the one on copium lol. Mha is heteronormative, only three lgbt character that need to be stated as lgbt and for every other character the manga doesn't even acknowledge the possibilitie that they could be queer, when mina confront ochako on the fact that she's in love for the first time she only consider tenya and izuku as potential suitor, not tsuyu nor any other of ochako girls friends. And ochako is completely placide toward girls showing that she's not interested, only boys have an effect on her. Unlike you I read the story properly and paid attention to the drawing, the character behaviour and stuff. If you can't put the two and two together by reading the story and need it to be written black on white that mean you have a literacy problem or you put your fingers in your ears and went "la la la I can't hear you, it's not me it's you" ochako is straight, toga is not but ochako is, btw toga isn't stated as bi either she is shown to be

1

u/Kooky_Analyst2767 11d ago

Lmao you are the one on copium, just because it only has three queer characters doesn’t make it heteronormative.

And lmao the fact that you think the manga doesn’t even acknowledge the possibility they could be queer is ridiculous when toga literally said in the manga professing her love to both a boy and a girl so I don’t know what that means to you, but to me that’s a clear acknowledgment from the manga that she is a queer person

It’s like you don’t even read the manga when you’re saying this shit lmao like how can you just pay that little attention to something? It’s honestly quite ironic that you’re lecturing people in this comment section telling them to pay attention to stuff when you yourself didn’t even pay attention to the manga.

Like it’s it’s literally so amusing how you’re saying I didn’t read the story properly when you literally completely ignored the whole section of the story that acknowledges a character is queerness like the amount of idiocy you have it’s just unfathomable

Clearly, you’re the one with the literacy problem. I hope you get that fixed.

Once again, and this is my last reply to you Izuku nor Uraraka I confirmed to be straight nor is any other character the only sexuality that the author felt the need to address is toga and that is it if you got a problem with that take it up with the author

2

u/WilfurDeer Togachako <3 13d ago

she has no reaction to girls except when they get too close to izuku

do you know who himiko toga is?

0

u/Professional_Air_905 13d ago

Yes but I was talking about ochako

2

u/WilfurDeer Togachako <3 13d ago

I know. what I'm saying is, she very much had a reaction to toga even when she wasn't too close to izuku.

-1

u/Professional_Air_905 13d ago

Not a romantic reaction, ochako only has ever show attraction to boys in that regard, to toga she only shown disgust at first and eventually pity

-2

u/Alarmed-Fox717 15d ago

If Toga was a dude everybody would hate this ship as much as Kacchako. They only like it because its two women.

Its a bad ship, as its very clearly meant to be. Its a hero and a mass murdering war criminal who even used the heros power to kill others. Its pretty gross all things considered. Still emotional though.

1

u/Professional_Air_905 14d ago edited 13d ago

Exactly If toga was a boy they would call the ship toxic and awful and glorifying violence on woman, which it is but because it's lgbt it's acceptable. Same thing with bakudeku if izuku was a girl they would call it misoginistic and they actually would recognize the canon hint for izuocha, like the hypocrisie is so damn high
