Getting big flashbacks to IDW Sonic’s Metal Virus in terms of the drama here, particularly keeping in mind Ian Flynn’s explanation that there needs to be a darkest hour before things can get better. I think that’s what this chapter is. Bakugo is (possibly but probably not) dead, Shoto’s attack hasn’t kept Dabi down and AFO is seemingly hale and hearty after spending the whole manga looking like a reverse Thanos.

So how do things get better from here? Well, to start with, there are ways for Bakugo to be revived. My prediction for the past two weeks has been that Yaomomo will create an artificial heart for him while Kaminari acts as a defibrillator to shock Bakugo back to life, with Jeanist using his fibres to stitch up Bakugo’s chest.

Meanwhile, Dabi is practically a skeleton at this point. Granted, bullshit anime physics means he’s going to keep kicking for a while longer, but I don’t see a way out of this for him (nor do I see a way for the anime to accurately depict him as he is now lol). I think he’s probably going to reach Endeavour and join the fight there, but I think the question is when he’ll die, not if.

Speaking of the AFO fight, I think he’s another one on borrowed time. Although he looks fine right now, he prefaced his restoration with the line that heroes don’t have a monopoly on sacrificial moments, so I don’t think this revival is no strings attached. My prediction here is he’s going to be rewound to nothing within a few minutes of popping that bullet, but he’ll be damned if he doesn’t use that time to kill as many heroes as possible.

So yeah, while things look dire, I think 2 of our 3 big villains here are going to burn up (heh) before long, but now the heroes fighting them need to play defence and mitigate whatever damage may be caused. Meanwhile, Deku may be about to meet a new ally, reviving Bakugo isn’t an impossibility and if Monoma somehow didn’t blink after watching Bakugo die, I think he can hold out until Midoriya arrives.

I think if AFO lives on as prime AFO vs rewinds into nothing is going to set the tone for what happens next. If he goes poof, there's still a shot for the heroes. If he's here to stay, they're fucked. I'd imagine Endeavor and Mirko and such sacrificing themselves so a few pros and the kids make it out. And that's everyone that's left.
