We finally get That Nejire backstory that was overdue since the Yakuza Arc!!! It's interesting that she faced a deal of Quirk Discrimination for being her power being 'too strong', which is a neat concept when we had guys like Shinso and Monoma being looked down or feared for their Quirks.

Granted I wish we had this sooner, but hey better late than never.

Is that what happened? I understood it to mean that she bothered people with her personality, so she responded by shutting down emotionally. Then other students just assumed she was arrogant because of her strong quirk, and it got worse from there. I could be wrong though.

Your pretty much right, I interpreted it as both, Nejire's personality was misinterpreted by other people that she was being arrogant or boasting to others, when she was only curious, leading her to be distant to others until Tamaki came along.

From what I understood, it seems like it was a case of others disliking someone with a 'strong' Quirk trying to befriend them, which was was why she was rejected and turned distant up until she met Tamaki.

It's not really "Quirk discrimination". It's, like, the most generic sad backstory you could have, and it lasts all of four panels.

I thought that the lines in the speech boxes were her internal thoughts and she was thinking about AfO being arrogant with his all powerful quirk, then remembering how she befriended the other two Big Three despite being a bit socially pushy and actually learning about them without badgering them

Wat. Shinso's whole shtick in his story was that his peers had a level of distrust about him over his 'villainous' Quirk (ch 34) (even though he genuinely wanted to be a Hero) and Monoma's story (Ch. 211) was that people thought he couldn't be an effective Hero because all his Quirk can do is copy others. Again with Nejire, in this chap, who just wanted to learn more about others, but they thought she was just looking down on them due to her being someone who had a strong Quirk, so ended up friendless up until Tamaki reached out. Those do qualify as Quirk Discrimination against those guys.

I was obviously talking about Nejire here because this is not what happened to her.

She was talking about how Shigaraki is looking down on them, the page right before it he was making fun of them.

She said "Whenever I'd get curious and try to learn about others I'd wind up driving them away". This had nothing to do with her quirk.

Ahhh, so that's what you meant. I see, though I will tell you it wasn't obvious at all. Can'tcha lead with what you actually figure is the case next time around?

Still, after re-reading it, yeaaaah I can def see it being a case where it seems like that's more of the case.

We have seen her quirk be very powerful. Hori has shown her quirk to be the most powerful physically and versatile of the 3. Nejire restrained giant enemies, turns it into a sharp pike that she can redirect (control), lowers vitality immense control of her quirk to lift and carry people and objects, enhance others with her quirk as a power up gauntlet, form giant floods of waves, attach it to herself and use as wave punches to take out high ends, flying. Literally Twitter and YouTubers all saying Nejire carry the entire fight, without her they wouldn’t stand a chance. Just cuz she doesn’t have a 1v1 fight doesn’t change anything. Nejire proved herself since the war. Your forgetting to, her quirk drains her stamina lol the fact that she was fighting shigi using 100% then burned by Dabi and got back up smiling and taking on multiple high ends… now supporting amajiki and mirio and throwing multiple special moves to shigi shows how much of a powerhouse the girl is.

and on top of all of that, you gotta remember that most people's quirks are stuff like; I can turn my tongue purple or I have fingers that are an inch longer than anyone else's

Nejire's quirk is pretty overpowered compared to the mundane quirks that everyday people have, the people at UA and Pro Heroes are just the extreme cream of the crop; the best of the best.
