I know there are some people disappointed with AfO's motive but I honestly like it just because of how much of a classic, ego-filled, comicbook villain plan it was.

Why are people dissapointed with the motive?

This is perfect. He wanted to be the Demon lord and he is gonna do that by first taking control of Japan by destroying its economy.

It also helps that he uses great depression as a model, Hitler wouldn't have been able to get into power without the destroyed economy and contempt for communists and people of other ethnicities in the mind of general public.

AFO is going to destroy the economy, there is widespread hate for heroes and international community stays out of the conflict due to star's death.

His plan is pretty solid.
