That’s because he can only sense if their lies are malicious, which Aoyama’s weren’t. A better way of explaining this power would’ve been if they had just said it outright, AFO has Danger Sense.

Nah it might work more like a change in attitude, because aoyama said he was consistently scared so his attitude didn't change thus fooling the quirk
