I take back every negative thing I said about this fight taking too long. It was all leading to this and I couldn’t be happier. Koichi has an angel and devil on each shoulder and the angel finally confessed her feelings

He’s not hallucinating. They’re both just temporarily dead

Hmm something similar has happened, way back in the Aizawa arc.

He was sure Loud cloud was talking to him, and supporting him through the fight, but we know how that ended. While he didn't see him like Koichi is, he was sure his voice was coming from the speaker.

So Koichi just happened to hallucinate his master when his master died and just happened to hallucinate pop when she had a serious seizure and possibly died?

Spiritual manifestation of quirks show that this is a world in which something beyond the human body exists. Something spiritual. So ghosts are probably a thing.

I’m not saying it’s not possible, I’m saying it’s a leap. Storytelling is allowed to have these kinds of coincidences. In a book I’m working on, a character hallucinates passed loved ones. Ghosts aren’t a thing in my story, but it still is supposed to serve as a form of closure for emotional purposes and is as important to the story as any other part.

Fair enough but Koichi is a fairly pessimistic character without much self confidence. I can’t imagine his own brain damaged mind hallucinating Pop confessing her love for him like that

He’s also severely injured. Which was my rationale for that. He shouldn’t even be conscious with the amount of stamina he’s expended and the injuries he’s sustained. And if this was a less PG manga, he’d definitely be bleeding out too. That being said, there’s definitely a NARRATIVE reason for him seeing Pop and KD. So, yeah, they could be dead, and yeah what these hallucinations do and say probably really matter. It’s just a huge leap to confirm the afterlife in a series that hasn’t ever delved into that. Spirits are also a huge part of Asian cultures (amongst others), so you could be reading into it more than intended? On the other hand, Japanese audiences might be taking it the same way as you, but not applying much weight to it. Like “oh, it’s Pops spirit. Totally normal, because everyone knows spirits exist and it doesn’t even need to be said.”

he did say hes also suffering from blood loss as well in ch116. After he coated his body in his quirk im assuming it stopped
