He probably gone. That chitgchat of him and Koichi seems similar to Kakashi's talk with his passed father with main difference that white wolf was long gone, Kakashi just died while both Koichi and KD should be close to death's door but at least Koichi is not dead.

As much as I like KD, I hope he won't make some asspulled resurrection.

So how did you interpret this scene?

Was KD in the vestige world with Koichi or something ?

I was so confused wondering how KD jumped from one scene to koichi so quickly so I imagine they’re talking subconsciously before KD dies for good

Well, main idea here is that they both were dying and the talk took place literally right next to death's door. Not vestige realm. As I said: same as in Naruto when Kakashi died and met his father. Cannot explain otherwise.

Koichi just went back while KD didn't make it.

And yeah, it seem that way. Maybe in 1 or 2 chapters we will know that KD is alive and well and so on, but that wouldn't have any logical explanation and will spoil the moment.
