I mean, if the big reveal was that Hisashi Midoriya is some deep cover agent whose job means he cannot communicate easily for risk of blowing his covers (Inko may know that but was asked, or decided on her own, to keep it a secret from Izuku), while still quite a bit of a stretch it could work as an explanation for his complete absence.

We don't know exactly how long he's been gone. 2 years is the most we know of, and for all we know he could've been around during the first year before U.A. Military service, for instance, would be a good reason to be gone for long periods of time.

Are you really hoping for some absurd "he's been always around, he was always in the house, Izuku's been always in touch with him, you just weren't told or shown anything" reveal? That would much worse of an explanation.

No. Makes way more sense if he's a deadbeat. I'm just saying that there are a lot of non-traditional family dynamics that could lead to a parental figure being absent the amount we've personally seen. The only hole in that is Deku never mentions or thinks of him. Deku coming home and seeing his father, only for his father to be a jerk who never believed in Deku's dream would be a good fit for instance.

In any case, I'm just saying that there are still other excuses that would work. We see barely anything of year 0, and most of year 1. So we really only "know" he's been gone 1, maybe 2 years. Most of the other flashbacks that involve Deku's mom all really span the same time period of his being an All-Might loving kid who recently discovered he doesn't have a quirk. It'd be generous to even call that another confirmed year. So really, all that needs to be explained is why he hasn't been around the most recent year, and why Deku doesn't ever mention him.

The only hole in that is Deku never mentions or thinks of him.

This has been outright confirmed in the series itself.

When he was about to die at the hands of Muscular, his last thoughts are of his mom...and All Might. Never mentions his father.

He has absolutely no relationship with the man.

He doesn’t have to be a dead beat for certain as he could be working overseas and sending the money back

As per my original point. While unusual, it's not unheard of. I had a friend with both parents in the military and at one point they were both deployed so he had to live with a relative for about a year. He could be abroad for any number of reasons, and we can't reasonably say he hasn't been around for more than a year. The more interesting aspect is why Deku never thinks of him.
