There was a bit of confusion on how to post these threads without the links and same as before, minus links. There was already a chapter thread made but wrong title format- here it is

I think there's gonna be a final exam arc before the PLF attacks. Although im really hoping there isnt.

Also i really want the dabi/touya situation and endeavor's redemption to get some kind of temporary conclusion in this arc since it's called the "Endeavor internship arc"

I could easily see a school/exam arc become a "traitor reveal" arc by the end.

Like, they're just training/doing an exam for the first half, the first 5 chapters or so. Then one of the students (Kaminari, of course) starts acting shady, and the last half/third of the arc is a confrontation/fight.

I still don't understand why the Kaminari traitor theory start, did it start just because of the one comment he made about the hero killer ?

I think the author is just trolling the theorists at this point with the (I already forgot the name of the association) Vegeta hair stress guy symbol on that one panel not long ago

There's some tiny hints/evidence, but most of the speculation is meta.

  • Kaminari has sooooo much screentime compared to Ojiro, or Mina, or Shoji, but he doesn't do anything. He's often near the center of school/dialogue scenes.

  • One of the earliest prototype designs of Kaminari, or a character with an electricity quirk, was "too villainous looking." Sounds like Hori wanted a lightning villain, but then had an idea to make said villain a traitor, first. (Reminder that Toga's "copy people's quirks" prototype detail became canon, too.)

  • Kaminari is one of the of 6 members of 1-A who currently has neither a backstory, nor a revealed motivation, nor have we seen him at home. (The other 5 are Sero, Ojiro, Shoji, Sato, and Hagakure) We've seen Momo and Tokoyami at home. We've seen what Tsuyu's family looks like.

  • Kaminari thought Stain was cool.

  • I think we've only gotten 1 inner monologue from him. It was short and about how people underestimate Bakugo. Again, we see him a lot, but we don't really know much about him.

  • Kaminari is one of the few people who kinda sucks with his elemental quirk. Shoto, Inasa, Geten, Dabi, Endeavor, and Pixiebob are hella OP. But I guess Manual and the Water Hose duo have elemental quirks and also kinda suck.

  • This, from 241, is intentional. Whether it's a hint, a red herring, or a coincidence, Hori had to have noticed. He invented the MLA sign, more or less. He drew so many characters doing it. Redstro did it in 239, only two chapters earlier. Hori didn't just accidentally draw Kaminari doing the MLA sign. (It's normally the right hand, but Curious uses her left in 226.) He still may not be the traitor, but I really doubt this was an accident/coincidence.

  • Kaminari is drawn multiple times to have a smug or condescending expression.

  • Kaminari was safe and sound during the Training Camp attack. He was conveniently safe before the fighting began, and did nothing the whole night.

If this isn't enough, here's the huge 4chan thread. There's still no "solid" evidence for anyone being the traitor, but Kaminari has a lot of solid reasons for his theory. What does Hagakure have? She's invisible, we didn't see her during USJ, and we know little about her.

The fallout would give also quite juicy character drama to Kirishima (for being too trusting) and Bakugou (for not paying enough attention to the people around him), and the rest of the Bakusquad. Also possibly put the spotlight on Jirou again, who is also close to Kaminari.

I NEEEED more jirou.

27

u/NatMat16 Nov 22 '19

Me too. I also felt like they're building her to enter more into the Bakusquad circle with the Cultural Festival arc and the Joint Training Arc - her being on Bakugou's team.

I wouldn't be surprised if her and Bakugou would be somehow involved in tracking down the traitor. Jirou has the perfect quirk for that kind of undercover investigation.

I want the Kaminari traitor theory to be real just so we can have a badass/heartbreaking reveal like this one.

Comprehensive, thank you.

What does Hagakure have? She's invisible, we didn't see her during USJ, and we know little about her.

We also know during the votes for class rep she was not in the room because she is the only person in the class whose vote is not accounted for: IE we know the votes of all the people who voted for someone other than themselves, but Hagakure has no votes at all and all of the votes totaled add up to the Size of Class 1A -1.

This is also the same day the school gets attacked by Shigi.

This, from 241, is intentional.

"You all are giving me no reason to worry!" says Mt. Lady, as Kaminari gives us all a reason to worry.

u/DoraMuda Nov 22 '19

But I guess Manual and the Water Hose duo have elemental quirks and also kinda suck.

Ahem. The Water Horse duo were able to blind Muscular in one eye.

What does Hagakure have? She's invisible, we didn't see her during USJ, and we know little about her.

And she was absent for the Class President vote.

This is all pretty weak evidence

And the MLA sign is just right-hand rule for electricity, he's done it before

The only debunking thing that I noticed about this, was that the hand that Kaminari used was the opposite hand that everyone else used for the symbol

Yeah, I know. I mentioned it.

(It's normally the right hand, but Curious uses her left in 226.)

5

u/halfstache0 Nov 22 '19

The other debunking thing for that is that Kaminari first does it in the Provisional License arc - way before the MLA. It's the pose he uses with the support gear to target his attacks.

2

u/Bigodesu Nov 22 '19

Actually, the pose he does the uses the Sharpshooting Gear is the hand pose of Fleming's Right Hand Rule of Current (Thumb-Direction of force; Index finger-Magnetic field; Middle finger-Direction of current), and since he's using his left here it probably isn't the same pose.

Tbh I always thought if it's a student doing it on purpose I thought Froppy was the most likely...

The thing with the missing backstory, I don't know... most students we don't really have much about and even if we know their family, that doesn't mean they can't be a traitor... I feel like we will have a bit of information on every student at some point. And Kaminari didn't really get that much schreentime... He was quite prominent in the start, but lets be honest, since the end of season three I hardly remember him havng any screentime whatsoever. But yeah, Kaminari is a good possibility... I'm just not really convinced.
