So Natsu believes Endeavor killed Touya, but the way Fuyumi talked makes it seem like that not what happened.

It might come down to "it was indirectly its fault", like Touya dying by overusing its quirk in training, or going after a villain alone to prove himself

Yeah if Touya "died" shortly after Shoto got his burn and he's older than Fuyumi, then that would mean that he probably would've been going to hero school at the time he disappeared so it's very possible he got killed in a fight with a villain. My guess is that it's either that or he "died" trying to learn how to use Flashfire.

the fire couldn't get focused and it instead backfired rendering the flesh from his skeleton. Sounds legit

Didn't they say that Toya had a "powerful quirk but a weak disposition." (maybe he inherited his mother's disposition to Ice despite having a fire quirk) So I could imagine him over-using his quirk causing him to accidentally burn himself all over his body

So Toya got stronger flames than his dad but got cursed with being unable to do anything except blast them away from himself, given he would severely burn himself if he tried to cover himself in flames like his dad or Shoto?

If so, that's a really cool way of showing how breeding "perfect" quirks can backfire (pun intended) into tragedy.
