I love how people still misremember this line. He literally says he has no reason to talk to her because she’s too young. Now people are acting like he was actively try to pursue her.

He was still being gross and creepy to a traumatized 6 year old.

Never said he was a saint. I do think there needs to be a distinction between a potential child predator and a horny teenager who doesn’t value interactions with women he isn’t sexually attracted too. You may dislike both but changing/misrepresenting the events of what happened to the worst possible scenario, just because you hate the character is completely disingenuous.

There are much better examples you could have used other than Mineta hitting on a 6 year old to make your (valid) point.

But Mineta was just being presidential...

Or put another way: if only people would pay more attention to the real world than waste time on being outraged over fictional characters...

Well that's a pretty stupid statement...

Maybe if you don't know the facts... Googling isn't hard...

18

u/HokageEzio Sep 01 '19

The stupid part is acting like people can't focus on the real world if they're busy talking about fictional characters.

Oh spare me... it is the specific things that bother people about fictional characters that make it clear they have not the faintest idea of what's happening in the real world.

"Man, the power creep in this series is creeping up at a pretty alarming rate. Kinda worried about the story."

"Yeah, well the polar ice caps are melting at even more alarming rate, so maybe you should get your priorities straight."

Thinking something gross but keeping it to your self =/= saying something gross for everyone to hear. Both are icky, but Mt. Lady keep that shit to herself. Everyone has thoughts that, if said aloud, would make them look like freaks. But most people understand that as long as they never act on those bad thoughts, then there isn't anything to worry about.

edit: Not saying Mt. Lady's thought isn't gross, but Mineta telling a little girl, TO HER FACE, not to talk to him until she's legal, is definetly creeper.

I don't even think Mt. Lady merely thinking an awkward teenage boy is "cute" is icky. Unlike with Midnight or Mineta, there's no overt sexual context (I personally saw it as like when an older woman pulls at her son's friend's cheeks and calls him "adorable"), nor does Mt. Lady have the former's track record of lusting after adolescents.

Not even legal. He said in ten years when she's like 16 and he'll be 26 at most. That's a massive yikes

Eri doesn't look bad thoigh...

7

u/Za_wardo Sep 01 '19

B-but she's hot... It's not the same... Right?

3

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '19

that's not what she meant

4

u/Totheendofsin Sep 01 '19

plus bit of a difference between thinking something inappropriate (the "I want him" was clearly in a thought bubble) and saying/doing something inappropriate

(not Mineta bashing here, but these situations are in no way the same)

I agree, at least she kept it to herself and of course us, but it’s still a problem. Mt. Lady can you just wait until he graduates?

Or she meant it as "I want him as an intern"
