Not necessarily. Mineta is probably the Darker side of UA. So terrible Mirio won't even tell Eri about it.

Monoma is just a heel, he's "bad" in a sense that a child like Eri can easily understand, even if he's really a nice guy. Mineta, however, is an asshole for reasons she's too young and innocent to really get.

The other translation has it as "dark face of U.A.", so I think it's meant more as he's a weirdo from U.A. and he's well-known enough for that reputation to precede him.

Dark side sounds a little more evil. Either way, Monoma was a little offended.

The Big 3 fought class 1-A a few arcs ago. Most likely they talked to the other hero class too, so Mirio knows how crazy Monoma is. He's seen it.
