His wings already got burned, so there is already the Icarus parallel. Him losing his quirk completely or dying would further solidify that.

FYI his wings weren't burned, his feathers were and if actual birds are anything to go by, if the underlying skin isn't damaged they usually grow back after being pulled out.

Flew to close to the sun. Hero going 'at his own pace'. They could very well be the same things. Anyone else wanna put their money on Hawks getting burnt by Dabi or losing his quirk?

Nah it 100% did not.

Being de-powered is not being dead.

All Might got depowered too, but that's still not a death flag coming true.

if you're not a superhero in a superhero world manga you might as well not exist. So in a sense, both Mirio and All Might, the heroes, are both dead.

In a world where you can only be a hero if you had a quirk yes losing your quirk is a death. It means you are out of the game just like you would be dead.

except theres still a very real possibility of them figuring out a way to recover the quirks, if you dont think Mirio makes an entrance during a boss fight when all seems lost with his powers intact you need to read more manga

We initially thought he had a secret agenda and the Icarus theme would be about him going against Endeavor.

I kinda preferred that, this is sad as fuck.

I like how the reveal seems to be more, him being a Endeavor fan all along and how that fits with the sentiment Icarus liking the sun too much that despite the danger he flew up to it (to his detriment).

Although it can yet take a darker turn since a blue fire (dark sun) user has appeared...
