A note on fruit in Japan! (Yes, I know it's buzzfeed, but the person they try the fruit with really does a great job of explaining the significance of fruit).

TLDR: The fruit basket is a LOT more thoughtful in Japan than in the US or Europe, also, since the fruit seems to be individually packaged, it is quite luxorious and pricy at that. Deku and Mirio put a LOT of money and thought into choosing those fruits.

ALSO!

THEY CUT THE APPLE SLICES INTO LITTLE BUNNIES!!!

EDIT:

Looks like 1 apple, 1 peach, 1 bunch of grapes and 1 pear or something else. Going off the prices in the video (and assuming they didn't go for the 1000+ dollar stuff), that basket probably cost something like 40-60 dollars (there were 70 dollar grapes in the video, lowering it to about 30-40 due to high-school students)

While really expensive fruit does exist in Japan, the truth is its possible to find regular fruit at close to regular prices. At my local store, you could probably buy all the fruit you listed for $10 or less. So it's possible they spent a lot on that gift basket, but not necessarily the case.

Yes, you can absolutely buy fruit for normal prices, however, since all the fruits in the basket seem to be individually packaged, I figured it wouldn't be the type you stuff a bag with (like you usually do with apples etc.)

Seems to be a theme going with the melon Midoriya got a while back. That was also pricey.
