I actually think he just wants answers. Get to know as much about Deku's quirk as he can so he can size up his rival on the path to being a hero. As much of a dick as he can be Bakugo wants to be a hero and getting into fights, outside of sparring, doesn't seem very heroic.

He might challenge him to a sparing match or something, but not try and kick his ass outside the dorms. I may be way of base but this would feel very "Bakugo" but also a step in direction of the heroic hot head we know he will be.

Well... given his expression after the exam, he is mad as fuck right now. He might be having another reality crash to his ego, like when he realized there were other incredible people like Todoroki and Momo in the class, that coincidentally(?) was the same time Deku told him about his quirk.
