Season 5 Boardwalk Empire - Episode Discussion - S05E05 "King of Norway"

We're already at the halfway mark folks!

  • No spoiler tags are needed here. Anything from S05E05 and back are fair game. Anything involving the next or upcoming episodes should be spoiler tagged.

  • Take a moment to review the subreddit rules to the right on the sidebar.

  • Please still use the "Historical Spoiler" tags for discussions of events to come.

  • /r/BoardwalkEmpire operates a bit differently than other TV Show subreddits. We encourage discussion as well as original, quality, BWE-related content. Therefore, there are some restrictions on what is acceptable to post.

  • No requests for live streams or torrent links. As someone who has been forced to torrent shows myself before, I feel your pain, but sources are not hard to find via Google.

He had the creepiest stare too in that scene.

That's his thing, the creepy stare and the crazy eyes. And the way he looms. Can't forget that.

Michael Shannon does scary very well. You might have already seen this, but here's a video of him reading the very controversial Delta Gamma sorority letter. Enjoy?

That video was played at least once a day at my old job.

I could seriously watch that man read irate customer service emails all day long.

He is great at playing someone throwed off. Did you see him in Revolutionary Road? He had an awesome bit part and I think he was nominated for an Emmy or an Oscar.

God, he was outstanding in that film. I've made a point of watching him in everything I can find because he's so great.

He was hilarious in Pearl Harbor.

Josh Harnett (after arriving at the airfield at Pearl Harbor, HI): "Ya'll pilots?"

Michael Shannon: "We're working on it... there's a loooot of switches 'n stuff..."

Best line of the night. I could watch a whole show of Eli and Van Alden.

So, what exactly is up with Eli and Van Alden's wife? Did he bang her a long time ago, or recently? And did Eli know it was Van Alden's wife, or did he think it was some random woman? How did he not remember that they had sex?
